The
Experience

A spacious townhouse, south-facing garden, two dear dogs and lovely old Silver Cross pram sitting under the stairs. No wonder this delightful, 1880s house has been in the family forever. It was the first house in Warminster to have a bathroom; these have multiplied since and it’s a comfortable home filled with fine antiques and attractive furnishings. Andrew and Carolyn, relaxed and charming, serve delicious breakfasts in the large conservatory. Bedrooms are inviting: beds are topped with fine linen, and you have views over churchyard, lawns and trees; bathrooms sparkle – one has a big walk-in shower. Restaurants are a stroll.

Local points of interest from Carolyn & Andrew Lewis

  • Longleat with its safari park and activity centre is only 10 minutes away. A treat for children and adults. Be warned, it really takes two days to experience all that Longleat has to offer - especially if you get lost in the maze!
  • Visit the Georgian splendour of Bath. If you can resist the lure of shopping, then tour the Abbey, the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent and all the other fascinating areas. Eat at one of the many fine cafes - Jamie Oliver's, Carluccio's?
  • Stonehenge, with its fascinating visitors' centre is only a short distance away. Enjoy the views of Salisbury Plain and then drive to Avebury to compare the stone circle there.
  • The City of Salisbury, with its magnificent cathedral and Close is within easy reach. There is an excellent market and the splendour of Wilton House, with its excellent children's activity area is close by.
  • Go back in time and visit the unspoilt village of Lacock, the scene of many TV adaptations. Tour the Abbey, the birthplace of photography with its Fox-Talbot museum.
  • If you are more active, the walks around the area lead to breathtaking views. Wander on the White Horse at Westbury or visit King Alfred's Tower.
