Ella’s passion for this tranquil place – and conservation of its wildlife – is infectious. She’s keen on home-grown and local food too so breakfast is delicious. Dating from the 1400s, the farm is a delightful rambling medley: russet stone and colour-washed brick, huge convivial round table by the Aga, rugs on polished floors. The sitting room has wood-burner, piano and books, and you sleep soundly in pretty, cottagey bedrooms: lovely linen, garden flowers. In winter you stay in The Lighthouse, down the lane: an inspired green-oak retreat with soaring beams, snug library, comfy downstairs bedrooms and roses in the garden. Magical.

This was our second visit to this property and it was every bit as wonderful as our first. Ella is very warm and welcoming and the house is very charming and comfortable with plenty of books to read, including older cookery books which I always enjoy. Ella's son was equally charming and, after showing us his original apple press, treated us to some of his sensational cider. There was nothing we didn't love about our stay and definitely plan to stay for longer than two nights next time.

Ella's place is just wonderful!!! We adored everything about it; the 'secret' garden, the incredible architecture, the homey feel of the place, Ella's welcome, the constant availability of home made cake..organic treats and toiletries, fresh local fruit for breakfast. We had a wonderful experience staying here for a weekend wedding and I wished we could have stayed longer..I have already recommended it to lots of people and will definitely return if I can.

This was my second visit to Ella's beautiful bed and breakfast and I was excited to return knowing how welcome I would feel, how comfortable the bedrooms are and the adventures and sanctuary the farm holds. A wonderful place to step out of daily chaos and into a time and place of gentility, it really is a very special place. Thank you Ella!

My husband and I stayed in this lovely b and b for two nights. Ella is a lovely lady very interesting to talk to. She can give you lots of information about walks and sightseeing in the area. Breakfasts were delicious with plenty of home made products (especially the greengage jam) Would thoroughly recommend staying here

You really feel that you are in the depths of rural England when you stay at Old Country Farm. The house manages to preserve much of its architectual character while providing the guest with all modern comforts. This is a family home and gardens with a history. Ella is the perfect host who looked after us and provided invaluable local knoweldge. All the food and drinks are locally sourced. We will be returning to the area next year and we will make sure that we stay here.

A peaceful place to stay. Beautifully cooked breakfast around the farm table. Local apple juice and produce. Cosy, spacious lodgings with abundant wildlife. A perfect place in which to relax and explore the local area.
