The Experience

Ancient chestnuts, crunchy drive, sheep grazing, hens free-ranging. This four-square Georgian farmhouse could be straight out of Central Casting. Smart, traditional rooms have damask sofas, comfy armchairs, bright wallpapers and views to Sutton Bank’s White Horse or the river Swale – and tea and oven-fresh cakes welcome you. Spotless bedrooms are inviting: pretty fabrics, antiques, flowers, Roberts radios. This is a working farm and the breakfast table groans with eggs from the hens, homemade jams and local bacon. The garden and river walks guarantee peace, and David and Caroline are generous and delightful.

We stayed at Cundall Lodge for 2 nights. Caroline and David were very welcoming and such good hosts. They answered all our questions and were mines of local information. The accommodation was spacious and beautifully presented. Breakfast was full of local produce and fit for a king! The stay was very relaxing. We will be back.

Stayed in the Garden Room excellently equipped for our stay very clean and homely, delicious breakfast alfresco. All our needs catered for, had a system of leaving requirement in a container, on our return they were supplied, this was ideal complying with the Covid restrictions. Very friendly and helpful with info on possible visits. Will certainly return when Lockdown lifted.

David & Chris, Staffordshire Moorlands

we stayed at Cundall Lodge farm for three nights this week. It was the very best experience. Caroline was incredibly welcoming. Our double room facing out over the farm and towards the River Swale was large and very comfortable with a super ensuite bathroom. Everything one could possibly want was available plus deliciously tempting home made flapjacks in a tin on the tea tray!! yum yum (we returned home with the recipe printed on a picture postcard of the farmhouse). Breakfast in the dining room was delicious. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Carole, London

We stayed in the White horse room which was spacious, luxurious and with a magic view across the Barkers farm. As we are Australian farmers we were keen to ask questions of our hosts about their farm which they happily answered. Caroline and David were wonderful hosts and their property is in a most delightful location. Yorkshire at its best! Thank you for having us.

Top notch! Absolutely gorgeous on all levels. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Helen, Richmond

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely place. Highly recommended!

We loved our visit to Cundall Lodge. Caroline made us feel like we belonged, right down to the Wellies we borrowed for walks on the farm. Breakfasts were magnificent and the setting, looking out over the fields, was just beautiful. We would love to return on our next visit to the UK.
