Ellerbeck House

Carnforth, Yorkshire
Bed & Breakfast

A pretty base for country walks near Lakes, Dales and Scotland. Fuel up with hearty Cumbrian breakfasts overlooking bird-filled gardens

1 room

Rooms sleep 2

Walk from the door of this beautifully restored country house, or head west to the Lakes, east to the Dales, north to Scotland. Period rooms display exquisite antiques and Harriet’s artistic touch: sofas and curtains in dark pink and cream, Persian rugs on shiny oak floors, marble fireplaces, stained glass in the stairwell, huge sash windows overlooking the lawn. One window holds the breakfast table – full Cumbrian, at flexible times. Outside, a courtyard for sitting out with the birds and the breeze. It’s all so pretty, as is this bucolic – yet accessible – spot near Kirkby Lonsdale, Settle, and Kendal of Mint Cake fame.

I can't wait to return to visit Harriet and plan on April 2018. I love the Yorkshire Dales and this wonderful cottage was like having my own cosy place to come home to in the U.K. Winter. Thanks Harriet I'll be in touch. Leeanne

We first visited Ellerbeck House 3 years ago, and recently returned for a second visit. We love it. The house has been beautifully restored, the bedroom is spacious, decor tasteful and bed comfortable, the breakfast is delicious, and Harriet is a friendly and accommodating host. It also provides the perfect jumping off point for walks in both the Dales and Lakes. We can't recommend Ellerbeck House highly enough.

A small, but perfect, B&B. Just 2 double bedrooms, with a relaxing, delightful and artistic ambience. Harriet is a very thoughtful and helpful hostess. One night was not enough! A longer, return visit is definitely on the cards.

We have now stayed with Harriet on several occasions and absolutely love Ellerbeck House! It offers gorgeous interiors, a yummy breakfast and comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Nothing is too much trouble - we always feel spoilt from the moment of our arrival. A log fire and lemon drizzle cake greeted us last time! We regularly visit this area and have tried nearly all local hotels and b&bs, but this is the place we want to keep coming back to again and again.

Delightful house and owner in a beautiful setting, very comfortable pretty room. A warm fire to greet our arrival ! Highly recommended !

Harriet Sharp found this house 5 years ago and has made it into the most beautiful home and she is the most delightful hostess. It is immaculate and very warm and comfortable in a quiet hamlet just 5 miles from Kirkby Lonsdale.. We went on lovely walks from the house and wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely return one day!

coming back from Scotland, we were looking for a B&B just for 1 night. What we got was far more then we expected: the very friendly owner Harriet gave us a very warm welcome, in her very tatsefully restored house (a house that could be published in every house and garden magazine) we will come back in this B&B for a longer stay in the nearby Dales.

Where should I begin? Harriet is a fantastic hostess, nothing is wanted for. Peggy (the Border Terrier) is great company infront of a roaring fire. We spent Saturday night by ourselves and the feeling is very much 'home from home'. The house is beautiful and the bedroom was very comfortable, we were greeted wity freshly picked flowers. The house has been lovingly restored and the attention to detail is inspiring. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here to anyone! Thomas & Danielle

Delightful stay at Ellerbeck. Harriet has done a fantastic job of beautifully restoring this building. We couldn't have asked for a better host or more welcoming impression. We have already recommended Ellerbeck to all our friends and family and will definitely be staying there again. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area

Harriet has restored this house with great style. She was a superbly attentive hostess and (despite being June !) the log fire and a glass of sherry were very welcome on a rather damp and gloomy evening.

Met with a warm, welcome at Ellerbeck on a cold November night. In stunning surroundings this is a real home away from home with Harriet being a wonderfully accommodating host. The house has been beautifully renovated and the rooms are extremely comfortable and stylishly decorated. A perfect for a single occupant I’m looking forward to more seasonal trips here.

Harriet was the perfect host, sharing her home with my son and I. Nothing was too much trouble for her, she was delightful. We had our own space on the top floor, complete with tea and coffee etc, but were more than welcome to use her sitting room in front of the fire, with the TV. The house has been done up beautifully and thought has been given to everything. It was warm and comfortable. When I asked if Harriet could recommend a pub, not only did she recommend a very good one just a short drive away, she telephoned to make a reservation. I highly recommend a stay here.

Such a warm welcome from Harriet to her wonderful home, restored so sympathetically. We felt really rested after a short stay, including a great meal at the pub.

Lovely welcome from Harriet with an elderflower cordial and a game of croquet on the lawn, a real treat for my boys. Beautifully decorated rooms and a stylish bathroom, we were in the upstairs 2 rooms. Cool white cotton bedding and very comfortable beds. A very pleasant experience, would have loved to have stayed longer to explore the area.
