The
Experience
In the gentle foothills of the North York Moors, four miles from the market town of Kirkbymoorside, lies Normanby, an ancient settlement blessed with a Norman church and a trout stream. And, tucked behind the village street, through the picket gate, this immaculate little cottage. Having swapped a farmhouse in the Lakes for Little Garth, Pippa has poured love into its revival. Now all is light, warm and cosy inside, with plenty of pretty things to catch the eye: old paintings, quirky pots, cheerful rugs on polished flagged floors. Fresh flowers glow on old pine tops, cotton-covered armchairs are deep and comfortable, and a super, bright, light kitchen with all the kit opens to a very private rose and honeysuckle garden. After a day’s roaming the sheep-speckled moors, bliss to snuggle down here. Light the candles, throw another log on the fire, pop the cork, or stroll to the pub for a drink. For eating out, Pippa recommends The Sun Inn at Normanby, a short walk. Return to sweetly floral bedrooms with gleaming white woodwork and generously clad beds. A lovely, very comfy hideaway.
