The
Experience

In a dapper row of stone cottages is this well cared-for village retreat. Welcoming a family of three and one well-behaved dog, it lies in the heart of ‘Heartbeat’ land with Dalby Forest on the doorstep – walkers’ and cyclists’ heaven. (There are family trails too, and a high-ropes Go Ape course not to be missed!). You have a part-walled courtyard garden out the back with wrought-iron furniture, a bird bath and a feeder; watch the birds as you sit in the sun. Inside: a warm red sitting room with a wood-burner, a leather chair and a sofa, the full Sky package for cosy nights in, and an excellent working kitchen, hub of the house, with a big black fridge and an eight-burner hob. Note the young owners leave you a bottle of wine to enjoy – the best way to ease yourself into a holiday. Up the stairs are two bedrooms with soft colours and new pine (the single bed is comfortably big), and a blue and white bathroom fresh and new. Horses (Snainton) and houses (Castle Howard) abound – and everyone loves the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, which runs all the way to Whitby.

Reviews

The cottage is magical. Great location on a very quiet road. Comfortable beds and sofa. Luxurious bathroom with bath and separate shower big enough for two. Wonderful wood burning stove. The kitchen is a cooks dream, excellently equipped, with all you need and even spices. Having a washer and dryer and some washing powder was a real luxury. The owners kindly decorated the cottage and there was a tree, wine and cake waiting for us. Their good taste is evident and they have thought of everything. We couldn't fault anything, and were very sad to leave as it felt like a real home. Thank you!
