The Experience

Perched at the end of half a mile of golden sand – waves lapping nearby, seabirds overhead… and the heart-stopping view to Rathlin Island and Scotland is all yours. Bath Lodge is a characterful, well-loved family house with its ramble of level changes, corners, crannies and a comfortable mix of furniture. Nothing is too posh: bring the children, their friends and all the gear without fear for the ancient floorboards or colourful rugs. The grown-ups will grab the deep-seated, view-filled sitting room; the big downstairs family room doubles as a fine playroom, the lawns are great for games, the walled garden for sheltered peace. Originally five 18th-century miners’ cottages whose tiny attics were thrown up to create lofty ceilings, it has old bones and the essential modernities. In the large kitchen/breakfast room the grand Aga is centre stage, with a separate scullery for washing up. Bedrooms have the same old-style comfort of mixed antiques and good beds. Rabbits crop the clifftop of the wild garden in peace, yet the town is just behind you. Brilliant for a family holiday.

Hi we booked the main house for 4 adults and had a wonderful time. The position of the house is fabulous , looking out at the waves crashing in was amazing. We had hired a car and found that coastline beautiful and took in all the usual sights as well as Titanic Belfast....loved our stay many thanks

I cant stress how helpful and friendly Mary was please thank her on our behalf! At some stage I'll email you with the walking material I put together for the trip - 5 of my group were English and they were all raving about the location and the house. As a wee tip - Siobhan Scally in the Tourist Information Office at the sea front at the Harbour is a font of knowledge and an Ambassador for the locale and really friendly!
