The Experience
John and Fiona are warm and welcoming – you’ll feel at home straight away. They’ve renovated their 200-year-old crofter’s cottage with love and contemporary style, the views from bedrooms and guest sitting room are astonishing and a short walk takes you to the edge of the loch. Wake to breakfast in the cosy dining room – continental and cooked options, including full Scottish and lighter and sweeter choices, are all served with John’s delicious homemade bread. Heaps to do nearby: boat trips, art galleries, Dunvegan castle and great walks. Supper is easy: it’s a stroll to Skye’s oldest inn and a fabulous restaurant – both right on the water.

We had 3 very special days here and John and Fiona could not have looked after us better. They made us feel we were their only guests of the year and we know full well that is not the case! They went out of their way to help us with walks, places to eat and to cater for dietary needs. The upstairs room has the best of views. We felt welcomed from the start and left truly refreshed.

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from John & Fiona Middleton
- A short walk to The Stein Inn, the oldest inn on the island, and the Loch Bay Restaurant, with its award winning chef
- Waternish offers beach, forest and cliff walks with an abundance of wildlife and scenery and, for those wet days, a number of galleries selling art, pottery, knitwear and sheepskins.
- Walk down to the Stein jetty to view the glorious sunsets in summer and enjoy star gazing in winter due to the perfect dark skies. Lucky visitors may even see the Northern Lights.
- Visit Dunvegan Castle and gardens, the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland, and take a seal boat trip round the loch.

As has been said before John and Fiona are perfect hosts ,friendly and knowledgable. Our only regret is that we only had booked one night. the downstairs room we were in was stylish and with an amazing view and comfortable chairs in which to enjoy it. the breakfast was also exceptional and John's special omelette a revelation. We can't wait to book to come again.
