The Experience

Once you’ve opened the front door you’ll see the sea through the vast windows. You’ll hear the water lapping right up to the garden at high tide and you have 180 degree views from the covered decking area, so even on a dreich day you can stay outdoors and watch the water. Swim from the garden or launch your kayak or paddle board.

Find Skye sheepskins, tweed curtains from Skye Weavers, pictures by a local artist and a welcome hamper with lots of goodies, including homemade fudge. Underfloor heating keeps you cosy and the log-burner can kick in too, with plenty of wood on the house. The kitchen is open plan and swish with a double oven and a washing up island facing the view – you’ll never get it done!

Bedrooms (the master with a copper bath overlooking that view) have smart dressing gowns, Hypnos mattresses and Made in the Glen artisan soaps. Lie in bed with the wildlife spotting book and a cup of tea, feeling very privileged.

Reviews

Not quite sure where to start other than WOW!! We absolutely loved our stay last week at your beautiful house. Its location, the decor and furnishings, the view, the fact it's so unique compared to other properties on the coastline just delighted us. Your folder of places to go/visit was very useful - and well used - and I would suggest adding Cafe Lephin at Glendale (on the way to Neist Point) for excellent cakes and cheese scones! We did various boat trips - the best of which was with Bella Jane with Dave the skipper from Elgol to the Isle of Canna which we would thoroughly recommend.

Chris & Camilla, London

A gorgeous place to stay for walkers, bird-watchers and anyone who likes to be near the sea. As soon as you are in the house you're just facing big skies, water right up to the garden at high tide, and masses of wading birds at low tide. It's not remote either - Broadford is a short walk for everything you need.

Location

The neighbourhood

Opposite the house is the Hebridean Inn who do good shellfish and venison. You can walk up to the common grazing land of The Breakish or right to the top of Beinn na Caillich for magnificent views and the tomb of a Norwegian Princess. Walk one mile along the beach into Broadford for shops, cafés, a craft centre, Skye candles. Visit Armadale for mackerel fishing or hop on boats to other islands.

Local points of interest from David & Fiona Tindall

  • A 180 panorama takes in majestic Beinn na Caillach, with the cairn of a Norwegian princess on the summit, round to the stunning skyline of the Applecross hills and Munros of Strathcarron
  • Light the fire, open the doors and sit out on the deck to gaze at the stars. Lookout for the white glow of the Northern Lights in winter
  • Private access to the shore.Beautiful Broadford Bay has it all. Teeming birdlife, an island for exploring and at low tide a glorious sandy beach, perfect for romantic walks, or games with the kids.
  • From the fabulous Hebridean Inn just over the road to the selection of restaurants and cafes in the village, leave the car behind for a relaxing night out
  • At high tide you’ll be just metres from the water’s edge. Watch the teeming birdlife on the shore, look out for otters and deer or admire the views to the island of Pabay and beyond
  • Soak up the view from the fabulous kingsize bedroom with huge windows onto the shore, luxurious Hypnos mattress and Egyptian cotton linen, or retire to your ensuite bath and shower room where you can soak with a view.

Introducing

David & Fiona Tindall

"Keen hillwalkers, cyclists, fair weather kayakers, amateur bird watchers and coffee shop explorers," David and Fiona are also keen supporters of local artists and suppliers. "The magic of Skye took hold of us in 2009" - today they live in Portree and run 4 holiday homes. Of course, they're a brilliant source of 'off the beaten track' knowledge of the Highlands... along with English Pointer, Ben.
