The
Experience

Your jaw will splash straight into the sea. A roller-coaster road screeches to a halt on a headland: views shoot across Loch Pooltiel to Dunvegan Head and the Outer Hebrides; below, in glorious peace and isolation, a larch-clad longhouse blends into wildflowers, sky and sea. Spot splashing whales, dolphins, seals and puffins; sea eagles circle and swoop. Inside, light cascades through glass doors and windows, you can lounge around the sitting room’s wood-burner and eat at the long antique table overlooking the watery view. All is simple, modern and top notch, from the swish, wood-clad kitchen and shiny bathrooms to the underfloor heating, Sky TV, WiFi and iPod dock. At night, the sky flaunts a sparkling shawl of stars (sometimes the aurora borealis) so sink your toes into sheepskin rugs and bodies into king-size beds (kids clamber in the bunks). You can scamper from patio to sea, or take windswept coastal walks: turn right for Dunvegan Head with its 800-year-old castle, left for Neist Point Lighthouse and astonishing rock formations. A magical spot as exhilarating in blue-sky sunshine as on a wild and stormy night.
