The
Experience
Rhododendrons form a brilliant guard of honour to escort you to this 1927 house. The entrance to the cottages, a wing of Cuil an Duin which was once the servants’ quarter, is through an archway to one side of the house. With separate entrances and a shared outside space these comfy country-chic holiday homes have all you need to unwind: good crockery, wool duvets and Egyptian cotton on Hypnos beds, splashes of tweed, Highland soaps and an abundance of fluffy white towels in gleaming bathrooms. Admire mountain views, head off into ancient woodland, roam the gardens – the 20 acres are stunning. Sally and David are charming and everything here says ‘welcome’; warm yellow ochre walls, happy hens pecking about the orchard, a stove lit in Garden cottage. Fresh flowers await you and the sun pours in when it shines. Meet horses in the paddock, spot wild deer, a tawny owl and red squirrels. Flora the Labrador and Chloe the cat are resident in the big house. And there are outdoor pursuits galore: hill-walking, cycling, white water rafting, bungee-jumping… Too energetic? Potter about Dunkeld, Aberfeldy or Pitlochry.

Red Squirrel Cottage is a little piece of heaven. We couldn't have enjoyed our visit more. Sally and David have a beautiful home and have thought of everything. Beautifully decorated throughout with modern appliances, great wifi and the most comfortable bed ever. Honestly, I wondered if we could fit the mattress in the car to take home! If you want peace and tranquility yet access to a gorgeous part of Scotland, this is the place. We'll be back for the cottage and the squirrels!
