A sprawling 18th-century mansion with the volcanic Ochil Hills as a stunning backdrop and a colourful entrance hall of antlers and stuffed animals. Country style bedrooms invite with polished old floors, tartan throws, garden views and original bathrooms. You have a huge dining room with warming wood-burner, a guest lounge on the first floor, a sunny stone-flagged patio with places to sit and acres of estate with a woodland walk to explore. Colin and Jane are caring and interesting; Colin is a keen cook and has ghost stories galore to share. Historical Stirling is close: castle, university, festival and more.

A wonderful setting, beautifully and authentically furnished. Lovely locally sourced breakfast and quiet, comfortable rooms. Jane couldn't have been more helpful and even drove us into the local town having booked us a table for dinner. Excellent base for exploring Stirling and further afield.

I don't usually write reviews, so the fact that I am doing so indicates how much I liked Powys House. It is a lovely gracious house which feels more like a home than a B&B. Although only 3 miles from Stirling, it was very quiet and secluded. Colin and Jane were extremely helpful and hospitable. Breakfasts were excellent in the spacious dining room with a view over the garden which reminded me of a Constable painting.
