Richard and Lena’s home is on the west side of the island and has wake-up views of the beach at Borve. They are sociable souls, know Harris intimately and are very happy to share.
Pretty amazing views from the dining room tumble down the hill too, so expect to linger over meals. Richard crofts, Lena cooks and great breakfasts include seasonal herring, mackerel or kippers; dinners are offered in the winter – perhaps homemade soup, venison casserole, chocolate cake with raspberries.
You’ll spot otters in the loch and the standing stones at Callanish are unmissable; find out about the origin and history of the famous Harris Tweed brand, and arrange fishing on Borve Lodge Estate’s rivers and lochs – guests get 25% off. Return for a sizzle in the sauna and summer nights that are incredibly long.
