The
Experience

Easy for getting to all the city’s venues so you can leave your car at home. Two resident chocolate Labradors will keep you company if you want them to, and your stay starts with drinks and a freshly baked Welsh cake or two.

Sian and Rob’s breakfast will set you up for a day’s browsing or enjoying one of the many sports/musical events. Chat to fellow guests over compote, yogurt and granola followed by a cooked spread of local sausage, black pudding, duck eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans… or pastries from an award-winning Scandinavian bakery. Find a piano that you’re welcome to play and comfy seats for settling down with the papers.

There’s a good pub next door, a popular Italian restaurant down the road and plenty more places for eating out in nearby leafy Pontcanna village.

Reviews

This is a B&B with a difference. Forget the images you have of traditional B&B's - this is stylish and yet homely - so close to the city and yet feels like you're part of a village - Sian and Rob have done a great job of combining new with old.

Location

The neighbourhood

You can park on Cathedral Road (or ask about the garage at the back). A 10-minute walk gets you to the stadium or the castle. There’s shopping in St David’s Centre or the Edwardian arcades; Pontcanna has a riding school (unusual right in the heart of town). and the waterfront at Cardiff Bay (both about 3 miles) has heaps to do: Wales Millennium Centre (opera, orchestra, theatre and dance companies), cafes, boat trips, cool bars and shops on Mermaid Quay.

Local points of interest from Rob & Sian Doyle

  • Walk through the beautiful park to the Principality Stadium, city centre with a myriad of shops and the famous Edwardian arcades.
  • Lots of culture in Cardiff - concerts, museums and art galleries
  • One of the best European cities for sport - rugby, football, speedway, yachting etc.
  • Walk through the park and visit the beautiful and unique Cardiff Castle.
  • Great location to tour castles, museums and the Welsh coastline.

Introducing

Rob & Sian Doyle

Sian and Rob were at University in Cardiff in the late 80s and have lived in Canada and the United States. They bought 64 Cathedral Road in 2016 and spent 18 months on the renovations, opening it up in 2018 for B&B guests.
