Take in the heavenly views of the Clwydian hills. Your converted barn is ideal for a family: BBQ, swings, football, and hens in the garden

Lambs bleat, hens peck, swallows swoop: Gwenoldy means 'Swallows Rest'. Take in the heavenly views of the Clwydian hills before stepping through French windows into this converted barn. A country kitchen greets you: cheery tiles, good-sized table, soft lighting and all the little luxuries. The sitting room has big comfy chairs and a wood-burning stove with logs on the house; games, books, maps and jigsaws too. Upstairs: a light-filled double room with embroidered bed linen and lots of cupboard space. In the twin: 18th-century beams and primrose walls for a cosy feel. The bathroom is spotless and as countrified as the rest. The pretty, hedged and fenced garden (safe for young children) has a patio and a gas-barbie, and soothing green-field and moorland views... the walking, of course, is fabulous: Offa's Dyke is under a mile away, and there are maps and leaflets in the Old Bakehouse opposite. Children will love the swing and the football goal, and collecting eggs from the hens. Best, though, to leave four-legged friends at home as this is sheep country. It's deeply secluded yet an easy drive to Chester and Snowdonia.

"Gwenoldy is a very special place for a holiday, a very comfortable home-from-home that's lovely to return to after a day out (Newborough Warren beach and Erddig NT estate are among many local highlights), and just as lovely if you want to stay in and read or work your way through the huge pile of jigsaw puzzles. It's tucked away up a lane overlooking the Clwydian hills - stunning views, big skies and blissful peace and quiet. The owners live next door but don't let that put you off, as they are friendly and helpful if you need it, but otherwise unobtrusive. We're planning our third visit...."

The view is stunning and the weather was superbe. we visited so much each day and felt home! I recommend it to anybody, especially families, it's so special and gives you everything you may need. "Lovely cottage in a superb location. My wife myself amd 8 year old had a wonderful weeks holiday at this lovely cottage. The views are amazing and the cottage very confortable and well equipped. What realy impressed us was the attention to detail which is provided. ie there is a book to explain how everything works, and also a 'top 5 book' to offer ideas on days out and places to eat. Elizabeth and Ian are lovely hosts and it was a nice surprise to be welcomed with a delicous home made cake and chilled bottle of wine. in short a fantasic cottage and a lovely holiday, thankyou."
