The Experience

There’s plenty of room here for families to spread out so even if the weather isn’t behaving you won’t feel cramped. A wide hall with a slate floor leads to a good sized sitting room with two big sofas and a wood-burner. There are plenty of logs to keep you cosy plus TV, DVD and sound system. The oak kitchen is generous with a big wooden table for convivial meals and a Rayburn to warm you all year round.

Step through French doors to a big garden with a lawn and a table for al fresco summer meals. Wander down through fields to the river Erch for a spot of fishing for brown trout – permits are available locally – or just sit peacefully on the banks with a glass of wine.

You’re on the edge of the Lleyn peninsula for fabulous coastal walks with stunning views and seal spotting, hire bikes and enjoy the quiet roads or head off for gruelling mountain cycling. The coast is a short hop for long days of proper seaside picnics and watery fun.

Reviews

A lovely cottage and glorious weather combined to make a wonderful holiday. The cottage is great for families, it's very comfortable and with lots of space outdoors and in. It's ideally suited for both the north and south coasts of the peninsula - nothing is too far away and there are some stunning beaches to explore.

We were the first guests to stay at the Longhouse following it's wonderful renovation and were blown over by the location..........the cottage........the facilities. It was in a lovely secluded setting (although close the the road it didn't disturb us at all) and within minutes we were at our favourite beach. We can't wait to return.

Wonderful stay in The Longhouse returning to our childhood holiday haunts (Trefor and the peninsular) after 60 years! Thank you for everything. It was magical.

Katrina, Brighton

Very efficient booking service and support with any queries before and after booking. Good easy beach walking and beach at Llangranog. Perfect holiday.

The neighbourhood

There's so much to do here surrounded by the Lleyn peninsula for view-filled striding and spectacular sandy beaches. Birdwatchers, nature-lovers and peace seekers will be happy all day but there is much adventure to be had in the Snowdonia National Park. Get the train up to the top if you prefer not to walk - views are spectacular. There are good shops in Pwllheli and a marina.

Local points of interest from

  • Amazing beaches around the Lleyn Peninsula including Llanbedrog with its mile-long stretch of sand, and the sandy, sheltered beach at Abersoch which is perfect for families. Water sports galore - surfing, sailing or wake-boarding!
  • Excellent walking and birdwatching - wander up to the nearby Celtic fortifications!
  • Snowdonia National Park is a short drive away and offers incredible scenery and wild walks;
  • Local towns of Pwllheli, with its large marina and backdrop of Snowdonia, and Porthmadog for shops, brewery, cafes, are close-by.
