The Cleddau estuary winds its way around this organic farm – its lush grasses feed the cows that produce milk for the renowned Rachel’s yogurt. Your hosts love the land, are committed to its conservation and let you come and go as you please; picnic in the garden, wander the bluebell woods, discover a pond; dogs like it too. You have your own entrance to old-fashioned, lived-in pretty bedrooms with comfy beds, simple bathrooms, glorious views and an eclectic selection of books to browse. Breakfast and supper are fully organic or very local: delicious! If Gini is busy with the farm there are terrific river pubs that serve dinner.

What a lovely, interesting house and how comfortably it sits in the landscape. Well located for visiting the area but gets you right away from the beaches, towns and attractions when you’ve had enough. This is a place to relax, unwind and recharge. Weather permitting the gardens are the perfect place for an evening picnic while watching the sun go down. The hosts are friendly and accommodating, giving information and help when asked but never pushy. We would definitely base ourselves here again.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Virginia Lort Phillips

  • A perfect place to walk your dogs - our woodland garden has a pond for them to cool off in as well but mind the water lilies in the summer!
  • Lovely walk through ancient woodlands to a great cafe on the banks of the estuary - open from April to September and also a riverside pub
  • Lovely Norman Church in the centre of our delightful village and a community shop selling everything from pc's to crafts, clothing, food and hot and cold drinks
  • An estuary ideal for sailing and kayaking just a few hundred yards away.
  • Our fabulous coast within 10 miles, a vineyard within 3 miles and great restaurants within easy reach to say nothing of those wonderful Norman castles and delightful gardens in between.
  • And a wide open sky with millions of stars and hardly a sound at night. Glass of wine anyone - you are welcome to bring your own! After a day of walking why not book a relaxing time in our hot tub?
