The Experience

You’ll be hypnotised and inspired by the very special views – artists, writers, walkers and nature lovers will be in their element. The open-plan living area has a cosy wood-burning stove, wooden floors, pretty windows, plenty of books and games for bad weather days and a squashy sofa from which to ruminate while watching the fire. All could cook together in the rustic style kitchen with a mid-century wooden table and chairs. Cupboards have basics and you’ll find Prosecco, milk, eggs, bread and other goodies waiting.

French windows lead to the garden for a seating area facing south and a hot tub with killer views. You’ll also find a fire bowl out here and an outside kitchen with a pizza oven. Red kites wheel overhead, buzzards mew – it’s a spectacular landscape.

Find good pubs, buy books or go food shopping in Hay-on-Wye (six miles) or stride the hills around you. On clear nights you’ll be able to see the stars come out one by one.

Reviews

Come for a view that will take your breath away, again and again. You are high and remote, backed by moorland, yet Hay-on-Wye is only 6-miles away. A stylish open-plan interior with oak floors glowing from the wood-burner welcomes tired walkers, or you can jump in the hot tub. Utter peace and total privacy are yours to enjoy. Watch a Red Kite wheel high overhead as the sun sets. Bliss.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're just outside the tiny hamlet of Bryngwyn and over a thousand feet up. Open moorland surrounds you for glorious walks and the closest neighbour is a riding stable. The Roast Ox in Painscastle is a 10-minute drive for hearty food, or head to Brecon and the Found Gallery for modern art and a Farmers' Market once a month. Canoe on the Wye or head for the Black & White trail in Herefordshire.

Introducing

Sam & Sofia Meehan

Sam (a local boy), Sofia and their young family have owned Glasnant for a few years. They renovated it to its current standard and lived here for a while too. The previous owner was eminent conservationist John Blower (a game park warden in the Serengeti). High Park's owners Mat and Susie are currently living in Africa, so you let yourselves in, however as Sam lives nearby he’s available for troubleshooting if you need it.
