The
Experience

An archway and grand courtyard greet your arrival at the 17th-century country chateau. Proud owners Patrick and multilingual Séverine are friendly hosts – it’s been in the family since 1825. Roam bewitching gardens, breathe in lavender and rose amongst manicured topiary, admire the old mill race staircase and pretty pigeonnier, swim in the heated pool. Take your pick of terraces for lazy afternoons (chambre ‘Jaune’ and ‘Coco’ have their own delightful roof spaces too). Angoulême and Périgueux are in reach for days out, Brantôme for canoeing on the Drôme, and pretty Villebois-Lavalette is a short drive for shops and restaurants.

Local points of interest from Severine & Patrick Dereix de Laplane

  • Clauzuroux is a listed monument which kept the charm of an old house but with modern comfort. It has been in Patrick's family since 1825 and he was born there (a bit later...) so we feel that the house is like a member of the family that we love.
  • It's located in a very quiet part of Dordogne, a bit unknown but where you will discover nice villages, roman churches, caves and castles. Less tourists and many things to do it's what our guests have always appreciated.
  • Our guests will find a heated pool and a tennis court in the garden and very close gorgeous walks to discover the countryside. They can come to rest, exercise or visit nice places!
  • If our guests want to cook their own meal and eat at home there is a kitchen that they can use for free, furnished with a fridge and an oven; if they come with a baby they can also prepare the baby food in this kitchen.
  • If a more luxurious room is available to our guests when they arrive, we upgrade them from their standard room to a larger one at no extra charges. They can relax in the living room during the day to read or have a rest.
  • We try to be as helpful as possible if the guests have problems or need advice. Breakfast can be served between 7am and 11am inside or outside depending on what the guests prefer.
