This restored 17th-century stone farmhouse is one of only three in a small hamlet hidden in a hilly woodland of truffle oaks but is only five minutes to the nearest village.
Christophe puts creative energy into everything he does, including breakfasts of homemade bread, jams using fruit from the orchard and a different cake every day. Stay in for hearty dinners featuring classic Périgord fare five nights a week – cassoulet, confit de canard, truffles – all seasonal and sourced within a 10km radius of the house, and served in the dining room or on the terrace.
Spend lazy afternoons at the swimming pool overlooking the valley and forest beyond – you may spot a roe deer – while you help yourself to drinks from the honesty bar. Walks leave from the house, or there are plenty of charming villages, gardens and chateaux to explore.
