Tinkling stream, wonderful gardens, attentive English host...the Dordogne at its best, with scrumptious breakfasts on a vine-shaded terrace

Robert's greeting is the first line of an ode to hospitality written in warm stone in breathtaking gardens, set to the tune of the mill stream. Immaculate rooms in the guest barn are comfortingly filled with good beds and fresh flowers, bathrooms are sheer luxury, and views sweep over the lawns. Wake up to a royal breakfast of breads, croissants, pâtisseries, homemade jams, fruits and tiny cheeses served on white tablecloths on the vine-shaded veranda. All is beautifully, lovingly tended by Robert. His two happy rescue dogs will make friends with yours; find your own special spot in the gardens.

"Another magical visit. Robert has the wonderful gift of making every guest seem special, and his enthusiasm seems to be as fresh as if he had only just opened, while his experience is everywhere in evidence. After a rather up-and-down holiday, to end it with the calm, beauty and kindness offered at 'Le Moulin Neuf' was deeply restorative and we were especially fortunate that it was warm enough to sit on the beautiful terrace for our delicious breakfast, looking out over his enchanting garden. Our heart-felt thanks."

"A beautiful spot, idyllic, even in rain! Robert offered extras to any other B&B we visited: heated towel rail, bathrobes, lock-up safe, fresh flowers, bed made and room cleaned every day, frig and electric jug available in sitting room. Attention to detail is Robert's hallmark, including info he gives, whether where to eat (he books it for you) or what to see."

"Every time we return to Le Moulin Neuf we feel a sense of coming home, for it has become part of us, a place that is utterly special. Robert is a host who works indefatigably to make everything perfect for his guests, and yet somehow finds time to treat them like real friends so that the whole magical place is imbued with his spirit of generosity. Paunat, with its ancient abbey church, is one of the most enchanting villages in France, and at least one visit to ‘Chez Julien’ in the lee of the abbey is a must. So too, we have now discovered, is supper at ‘Les Truffieres’, a wonderfully characterful ferme auberge which serves authentic local dishes in bucolic, zestful surroundings just a few minutes away on the edge of Tremolat. We have just finished a three week tour of central France with a few days in this gloriously peaceful corner of the Dordogne, and it could not have been a more perfect way to end our holiday. We cannot thank Robert enough for creating such a haven of beauty and sharing it with us."

"Quite difficult to locate but worth the effort (N44°54'4.9032", E0°51'7.03948"). The situation is heavenly and Robert made everyone so very welcome. The breakfast was especially delicious."

"Absolutely the best bed and superlative breakfast in France. Robert's attention to detail, fresh fruit juice; fresh fruit salad; croissants; yoghurts; rolls or toast served with tea; fresh coffee or chocolate, served in the cozy dining room/lounge with a log fire for chilly evenings. A fridge with tea/coffee faciltities is available all day for your convenience or lake side picnic. It's not only a charming Mas situated near to Limeuil, one of France's 100 most beautiful villages, but nearby in Paunat there is Julien's restaurant, nestling in the shade of a 11th century Abbey. We return year after year. P and G Morris"
