The Experience

Tranquillity on offer at a traditional Girondine manor on the edge of a hamlet, with airy rooms and quaint bric a brac. Multilingual host Sacha has worked as a journalist all over the world and loves cooking. She’s passionate about caviar and has written a recipe book; much of what she serves is homegrown with eco-friendly pesticides like garlic! Discover every spot in the gardens – follow a herb trail, smell the roses, swim in the heated pool, play pétanque, tennis or get a hole in one on the par 3! Head off and pick fruit in the orchard or take a stroll for a café lunch. Saint-Émilion and Pomerol in easy reach. Enchanting.

We had a fabulous stay at Domaine de la Freynelle; luxurious rooms, a wonderfully quirky garden and a scrumptious breakfast. Sasha is a great host and we will most certainly stay here again.

Yvonne, Carcassonne

We had a wonderful stay at Domaine de la Freynelle, a beautiful house in an excellent location for us as a stop over on our way to Spain. Sacha is a generous and engaging hostess and a fantastic cook! There is much to do in the area and we will return for longer next time!

Kirsty, Gloucester

What a pleasant surprise! Sacha was very helpful and speaks excellent English. The bedroom was very comfortable and quiet. There is a super garden and a swimming pool, which we used. Towels were provided. The evening meal was delicious and included wine. There was ample choice at breakfast. It was a pity we only stayed for one night, especially as it is surrounded by vineyards and lovely countryside.

David, Plymouth

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Sacha at Domaine de la Freynelle. It is a beautiful, relaxing place. The house is traditional but quirky, clean and comfortable. The garden is also quirky and you never know what to expect around the next corner. The dogs accompany you to keep you safe!!! Sacha is a brilliant hostess with just the right amount of interesting chat. We enjoyed good wine and an excellent dinner. We enjoyed her company very much, she has had an interesting life and is happy to share her experiences without being intrusive. Extremely good value, we hope to return.

Sonya, Devon,

A beautiful C18th house steeped in the history of the area and a delightfully warm welcome from Sacha who goes out of her way to provide for her guests; tea and biscuits on arrival, towelling robes and expert dinner recommendations and bookings . We loved the generous proportions of the rooms, the lovely pool and garden, cycling through the vineyards on borrowed bikes and swimming in the quiet nearby lakes. We will definitely return.

Joanna, London

The Domaine de la Freynelle is a magnificent property, an oasis of calm and refinement, which combines the charm and elegance of the beautiful Bordeaux residences with modernity and comfort. Wherever you chose to look, your senses are excited: the garden is a haven of peace and harmony, the house is decorated with taste and humour and the morning breakfast a perfect start of the day. A discrete but very attentive hostess. Sacha de Frisching has made our stay unforgettable and we will definitely return and recommend the Domaine to friends and family.

Karine, The hague

Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay - our room was absolutely fabulous and your attention to detail with everything was fantastic together with you being lovely people in a beautiful house with a delightful garden and pool in a charming location. We will definitely be booking with you again.

Local points of interest from Sacha de Frisching

  • Take a stroll to pretty Lac d'Espiet for a cafe lunch or even water ski-ing. Many bistros available within a 10-15 minute drive.
  • St Emilion is a must-see ! Sneakers de riguer because its hilly and cobbled like a mini San Francisco. UNESCO heritage site with undeground caves, museums, churches, ramparts and of course wine!
  • Chateaux's offer you a wide selection of courses in wine tasting, picnics on the grounds with a shuttle service. Tourist trains and bike tours are also on the agenda. "Cannele" is the regions speciality and to die for!
  • Archachon + Cap Ferret is 90 minutes away...visit the Pyla Dune, eat the famous mussels chez Hortense and dip your toes into the Atlantic!
  • Caviar: France's entire production of farmed caviar is in the Aquitaine. We can organise an in-house tasting with a little bit of heaven in a bite & glass of champagne. You can visit the farms and try new things like: caviar butter, leaves and salt!
  • Bordeaux is a 40kms drive which makes it an easy day trip. Last June the CITE de VIN opened. Exceptional architecture overlooking the Garonne. Seven floors, panoramic restaurant on the top floor, exhibitions, tasting events with international wines.
