The Experience

Lora and Rob have filled their light-drenched 200-year old home with curios, artwork and furniture collected on their travels and it all works magically. Bedrooms are large and bright and have antique furniture; bathrooms are brand spanking new, two have roll tops. You can breakfast in bed or in the garden underneath the shade of the walnut tree: smoothies, granola, local honey, bacon sarnies, delicious buttermilk pancakes, proper coffee…For dinner, two evenings a week dig into wood-fired pizza under the stars too. You’re slap bang in the middle of wine-tasting country: drive to lovely Sauternes in half an hour and St Emilion in 45 minutes. Discover lesser known appellations such as Côtes de Duras and Buzet or stay put and taste wines in Lora and Rob’s lovely own natural and organic wine cave. The steepled church in Lorette is a two-minute walk and for trips out sup champagne and oysters in Arcachon or hang out in trendy Bordeaux, an hour’s drive. Return for a dip in the pool, a massage or a session in the wood-fired hot tub. Bliss.

Reviews

Manoir Laurette with its stylish and Bohemian interiors is a real gem for lovers of beautiful things. Our room 'The Gypsy Queen' was large and had a stunning iron bed and lovely views. The breakfast was one of the best we have ever had at a B&B and Lora and Rob took great care to ensure our stay was full of special memories. They have a super wine cellar and Rob is happy to chat about the wines of the region. We enjoyed the local restaurants, a trip to St Emillion, walks on the canal and the produce market in La Reole.

What a charming b&b in a beautifully restored manor house. Lora the owner, is very attentive and knowledgeable regarding the area. The breakfast was delicious with a choice of hot and cold homemade foods. The bedroom was large and comfortable, the bathroom romantic with its claw foot bath. The gardens are tranquil and delightful.

True to the photos on their website, every room tells a story and attention to detail fires up the imagination. Even the smallest of details, from fresh flowers in our room, the complimentary wine set out with glasses, to fine quality soaps in the bathroom, makes you feel you are a special guest. We stayed in the Icon Room, with its en-suite bathroom and slipper bath. The freshly prepared cooked breakfast menu is imaginative and delicious and we highly recommend Rob's scrambled eggs. Lora and Rob are charming and considerate hosts. An excellent place to stay.

What a stunning B and B. Lovely lovely people, the whole place gorgeously decked out with a massive amount of thought, beautiful bed linen - down and feather pillows, superb beds, and super duvets. Breakfast was just as outstanding. We waddled out the next morning like inmates of the Fat Club of Croydon. Honestly, we can't speak highly enough of Manoir Laurette, and they deserve massive accolades for their efforts and simply great hosting.

Louise

A beautiful house and fantastic hospitality from Lora and Rob. We couldn't recommend Manoir Laurette more highly.

Manoir Laurette is an absolute delight! We had a fantastic mini break discovering the food and wine of the area and wanting some tranquil time away. Lora and Rob are brilliant hosts, welcoming, good company and very generous with their place and time. Le Manoir is full of thoughtful, often homemade, touches designed to make your stay more comfortable. The breakfast each morning was a delight, a lovely spread of fresh local food. The location is fantastic - there is so much beautiful countryside and with amazing history explore on the doorstep, whilst Bordeaux is only a short drive away.

Angus

Rob and Lora welcomed us with generous warm hospitality. We were given a lovely cosy room decorated, as the rest of this lovely house, in a gently bohemian manner. We were treated to a fantastic breakfast in front of the wood-burner. When we next return to this part of "slow" France we will definitely be staying here and for more than one night!
