Les Mouettes

Bed & Breakfast

A seaside spot of elegant simplicity – and Isabelle's creativity: starfish, pebbles, mobiles, pine, pale grey. The village is pure Brittany

House and owner are imbued with the calm of a balmy summer’s morning, whatever the weather. Isabelle’s talent seems to touch the very air that fills her old family house (and smokers are not spurned!). Timeless simplicity reigns; there is nothing superfluous: simple carved pine furniture, an antique wrought-iron cot, dhurries on scrubbed plank floors, palest grey walls to reflect the ocean-borne light, harmonious gingham curtains. Starfish and pebbles keep house and little garden sea-connected, whimsical mobiles add a creative touch. The unspoilt seaside village, popular in season, is worth the trip alone.

This was the second time we've stayed here and it was as good as the last. These are very simple rooms but comfortable, light, clean and airy. Madame's breakfasts are just great - lovely warm fresh croissants from the boulangerie just up the road, delicious home made yogurt and a properly made pot of tea! This was the only really decent cup of tea we had during our two week trip - mainly because Madame uses fresh milk, proper tea leaves and freshly boiled water. She booked us a table at the restaurant about 500 yards down the road which was also absolutely delicious, and interesting.
