Sip fizz on your terrace, loll by the shared pool. For relaxation try reflexology, on a cool day snuggle by the wood-burner. Brittany bliss

In a bucolic hamlet of thatched 17th-century cottages are two gîtes in three landscaped acres, perfect for groups or families, sharing a big pool with a retractable roof. Enter La Chaumière to find a light and lofty salon with comfy sofas, antique pine chairs and silk flowers, flat-screen TV, DVDs and WiFi – and you can curl up in front of the fire with a good book and a glass of wine on less clement days. All the bedrooms are cottage-cosy, with comfortable beds and floral linens, and coloured towels in spotless bathrooms. In La Grange an attractive stone archway links the salon with the kitchen and dining area, and there's a wonderful granite fireplace with a raised base (safe for young children). Cooks will thrive in kitchens where painted wood units hide a multitude of implements and there are wooden tables for family meals on country-style china. The welcome basket is exceptional: coffee, tea, bread, local eggs, croissants, fruit, local crepes, biscuits and homemade jams… but you can be lazy and organise supper with the delightful English owners opposite. There's riding, fishing and golf nearby, and shops, bars and restaurant in Quistinic.

"Rental properties often do not live up to their description. La Grange certainly does and is in fact even better because of all the little extras that aren't mentioned. Le Helleguy is beautifully set out and is a pleasure waiting to be enjoyed. The owners are very welcoming and always happy to give advice or assistance. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. It is situated in the peace & quiet of charming countryside but is within easy travelling distance of the coast or larger towns."

"A real gem of a place. Beautifully presented properties both inside and out set in picturesque grounds in an idyllic location. Neil and Tricia were perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. The swimming pool was a big hit with our 16 year old son. We would love to go back. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed. There is plenty to see and do around and about, all within easy driving distance on uncrowded roads."

"A real gem of a place, it certainly lived up to our expectations & more. Neil & Tricia are fantasic hosts, with nothing too much trouble & making our whole family feel totally at home. The attention to detail with all the facilities available was fantastic & a real plus when traveling with a 3 year old! Such a charming place, we really didn't want to leave. "

"We spent a week in June at La Grange at Le Helleguy &can't praise the cottage and the owners enough. The cottage was spotless, spacious & decorated & equipped to a very high spec. The kitchen was a joy to be in, very well equipped with everything you could ever possibly need. Likewise, the lounge, bedrooms and shower rooms were spacious & comfortable. The gardens were beautiful & the private eating area with bbq was perfect. Tricia & Neil are the perfect hosts, managing to be friendly & helpful whilst respecting guests privacy. Excellent welcome hamper provided too. Highly recommended."

"This was our second visit to Brittany Thatched Cottages - which says it all really. We have stayed in both of the cottages, each of which is spotlessly clean and very well presented - the owners Tricia and Neil have put a lot of thought into the inventory and this is without doubt the best equipped kitchen of any cottage we have stayed in! The pool is lovely and our 3 children (aged 7-10) visited every day to burn off energy. Neil and Tricia are always available without being intrusive, they are always happy to book a table or make an enquiry - very useful if your French is not quite fluent!"

"You couldn't find better hosts than Trisha and Neil, they have thought of everything you need for a special holiday. The cottages were comfortable and very well equipped both inside and out. The welcome pack was excellent as was the information about the surrounding area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

"La Grange is a beautiful holiday home exceptionally well equiped. we have stayed in many parts of France for the last 20 years and nothing has come close to the high standard of accommadation that we found at La Grange.Tricia had even ensured that everything we needed for our 3 month old grandson was available. Neil and Tricia have a wonderful knowledge of the local area and places of interest.Go to the restaurants they recommend you will not be disapointed. We were convinced that the chefs had put on something special for us as the booking had come through Mr.&Mrs YoungWill we go back you bet"

"We've been at La Grange in october 2012 and allthough the weather was VERY mixed, we had an absolutely wonderful stay!! Our whole family enjoyed the pool, especially the kids (6, 9, 11 + 12 yo). And on sunny days it was just great sitting on the nice terrace having a delicious french BBQ. We found lots of toys and games both in- and outdoor. And, last not least, Neil and Tricia Young were wonderful hosts, allways inconspicuous present. Even late in the evening our kids could ask them to turn on the lights for some floodlight-swimming :-) We'll almost certainly come back (maybe in the summer)."

"I have stayed at La Grange twice, the first, last year for one week and we were so impressed that we returned for two weeks this year. We have travelled extensity in Brittany and have found no where better to base ourselves. On days when we were not out and about, the gardens, swimming pool and peace and quite made it a pleasure. The cottage is without doubt the best equipped I have ever come across and of the very highest standard. The best bit, Trish & Neil Young. Nothing is too much trouble, unintuitive attention to detail and most of all welcome, make a stay something to remember. "
