On the site of a 14th-century hamlet, this handsome Breton property has two very well-renovated houses to let. They can be taken separately or work well together for a larger group, and share three acres of garden and woodland on the Nantes-Brest canal.
You’ll get a friendly welcome from Kevin and Louise, who have set out to preserve original features (arched stone fireplaces, ceiling beams) while adding practical and well-equipped kitchens and efficient wood-burners. They’ve thought of everything, from a gin and tonic on arrival to stocking the fridge for you with nice things.
Head out to the heated pool for a dip, or on bikes for a peaceful pedal along the towpath (spot an otter!) – to lunch, perhaps Michelin-starred, in Mur-de-Bretagne (five miles). You’re a short drive from Lake Guerlédan for swimming and watersports, and just over an hour from the Gulf of Morbihan for sailing and stunning coastlines.
