Sit back on the terrace, lap up the peace, and savour a glass of Patrick’s walnut wine. Strolling distance from the Chateau de Lannouan, whose farmhouse this once was, all you hear are the birds, and all you see are the trees and the fields. The house is a solid stone longere, separated from the road by a grassy courtyard, with a lawn at the back where children can play, and a much-loved potager. Patrick, ex Parisien chef, creates wonderful dinners held in house-party style. Christine, the talent behind the décor, is also the creator of breakfast’s jams, which include an exotic spiced plum. There are walks in the woods, easy cycling for families, and white sand beaches to head for, on the 42 isles of the Gulf of Morbihan. You’re also close to the hiking route which runs along the Ria d’Etel.

Our second visit, albeit for only one night. Still as good, and tranquil, as we remembered it. Welcomed by Patrick & Christine. Dinner & breakfast excellent, and the home-made jams superb.

Chris & gay, Bridport

We had a brilliant stay (sadly only a night) as a family with 2 very small children and a grandma in tow. The food was incredible and our family suite extremely comfortable. Great to have dinner cooked for us and kids safely tucked up in bed upstairs. We would have stayed longer but they were fully booked. Only improvement I can think of would have been if our children could have had an early dinner (we didn't ask about this so don't know if it would have been possible). Great local recommendations for the following day for Christine too - best swim of the holiday!

Anna, Lustleigh

Talvern is a great place for a quiet holiday. The location is secluded but only 5 minutes drive from the local shops, 10 mins from the nearest town and 2 mins from the coast. The rooms were very comfortable and the large garden a real pleasure, with room to walk, or relax, and a Kitchen garden worthy of the National Trust, from which much of the fruit and vegetables for the daily meals comes. Christine breakfast preserves are the stuff of legends, and Patrick cooks a fantastic range of fish if you take the evening meals.

Hello, (my apologies for the syntax, English is a second language...) My wife and I had an excellent stay at Talvern. Quiet, nicely decorated to start with. The 'chef' and his wife cooking skills are outstanding, albeit light and healthy. The room comfort is on par. And if the weather allows, the garden will allow you to discover all kinds of organic vegetables, actually quite a zen place... The geographical location makes it a ideal starting point for bikes or car trips. Definitively an address that we will recommend! Bernard Delmez

Imagine waking to the rustle and hum of a garden surrounded by trees. Butterflies and bees working their way through flowers and vegetable patch. The sound of horses hooves as two riders pass on a morning hack. Breakfast of home made preserves, coffee and contended chatting with fellow guests. In short, a perfect setting to explore the busy coast line from Vannes to Lorient.

Our third visit, and still as good. It is an oasis in a beautiful, tranquil seetting. Patrick's inventive cooking with local, seasonal ingredients is wonderful, and Christine's preserves at breakfast had us guessing about their origins. A very entertaining break!

Dorothy, Thirsk

What a find! Christine and Patrick were so welcoming and took time to chat with guests. Dinner and breakfast excellent. A chambre et table d'hôtes as it should be! Ideally situated for exploring of lovely area of France. We will be back!

Phyllis and myles

We had an excellent stay with Christine and Patrick Gillot at their relaxed Chambre d'hote. Patrick's meals were so good and they were interesting company too. Our room was comfortable and there was everything we needed. Our hosts were quite happy for us to relax in the garden and look at all the flowers and vegetables there, even runner beans which apparently are not grown in France but Christine guards the seed from year to year. She is waiting for my Runner Bean Chutney recipe! A lovely couple - we will be going back.

Our second stay at this lovely property in a quiet, peaceful location with beautiful gardens and an amazing array of fruit and vegetables. Comfortable, spacious accommodation in a suite. Patrick and Christine were their usual extremely welcoming and friendly hosts and along with other guests we enjoyed a pleasant dinner provided by them as well as breakfast with ingredients from the garden. We will certainly return if in the area again and will recommend to friends and family.

At least our fourth visit to this rural idyll. A beautifully restored farmhouse with large garden where fruit and veg. and flowers are all used to complement Patricks wonderful cooking.Christine seems to be everywhere at once and her excellent English is a big help when my rusty French breaks down! 'Ome made cider helps to kick off the evening meal.

Adrian, Dornoch

Just as perfect as before. Our second visit to this wonderful welcoming place. Rooms clean and comfortable. Food wholesome and delicious. Lovely hosts. Tranquil yet convenient location. Highly recommended, we will return.

James, Devon

Talvern is situated in a quiet rural setting outside Lavénant, and if you are seeking peace and tranquillity, look no further. The old farm house has been immaculately restored with 5 bedrooms, and the garden is a pleasure for roaming or resting. Everything was beautifully presented and of good quality, and the bed was firm and comfortable. Between them, Patrick and Christine produce some wonderful food, cheese and preserves from the garden and local area which are well worth trying. They are charming hosts and make every effort to give guests a wonderful experience.

Nick, St. albans

A wonderful find! Beautifully restored farm buildings in a lovely garden with comfortable accommodation close to Carnac and Vannes. Christine and Patrick are very friendly and informative hosts who speak excellent English for those afraid to try their French! They had lots of ideas for places to visit off the beaten track. Patrick is an amazing chef and we were treated to wonderful three course dinners - so good, we ate there all three nights. The fish soup was out of this world and superb puddings. Home griown produce, and Christine's jams were the highlight of breakfast. Highly recommended.

As my husband and I were travelling to the Morbihan, we decided to stop at Talvern and to have dinner there. We first enjoyed the garden, which was very pleasant. Dinner was a real delicacy, including produce from their garden, and it was a pleasure to chat with our lovely hosts! Our bedroom was very clean and comfortable. Finally, breakfast (again, perfect!) was served with jams, cheese, breton far (a traditional cake) and smoothies, all homemade. Thank you very much! (I will have to remember to buy the green tomatoes and lime jam next time, which looked delicious).

Marianne, Chatenay-malabry

Talvern is a lovely peaceful B&B about one kilometre from the village, set in a beautiful garden. The surrounding woodland is ideal for long walks. Patrick & Christine were wonderful hosts and our accommodation was spacious & comfortable. We loved the hearty breakfasts, Patrick's dinners and the cooking class. Highly recommended as a place to stay and great value.

The second time we have stayed with Patrick and Christine and would 100% recommend. Great hospitality and rooms; Patrick is a superb chef and the food is both local and/or grown in their garden. Better than eating out by far.

Diana, Guernsey

We've just returned from our second visit to Talvern, Brittany. Patrick and Christine were welcoming hosts. The meals were delicious, particularly as the produce was home grown. We have returned with a selection of Christine's jams, which will remind us of our happy holiday with our charming hosts at Talvern.

A superb B&B; wonderful rooms and surroundings, very peaceful, and excellent food, but best of all, we enjoyed the company of the exceptional hosts. We felt very welcomed, and as friends. There is no doubt we will return, as some of our fellow guests were already doing, for the third or fourth time! We have stayed in at least 30 B&Bs in France in recent years: there is no doubt this is one of the best! Our thanks to Patrick and Christine.

Completely wonderful. We've never had better. Great place to stay. INÉDIT!

I've spent 6 nights in Talvern with my younger son, and could have stayed a month! We've really had a home feeling in our tastefully decorated "Jeanne suite". Patrick and Christine are wonderfull attentive hosts, and we trully enjoyed Patrick's dinners. The food was delicious, creative, and prepared with local fresh products, including organic vegetables and fruits from the garden. Breakfasts were enlightened by Christine amazing jams! Altogether, a rare feast of excellent cooking!! The region is beautiful, and there is much to discover, following Patrick and Christine's advices.

Patrick Gillot

Patrick and Christine bought and renovated their historic home in 2006. They love the area, love the house, and love having guests to stay. Many return. Dinners are convivial, and delicious: They both grow much produce in the garden, and Patrick worked as a chef in Paris. Both hosts speak excellent English, and run cookery classes from October to March.
