Restored by designer owner Molly, this big Burgundian farmhouse, with a pigeonnier and immense barns, is relaxing, rambling, and huge fun. Reconfigured with families and teenagers in mind, it’s brilliant for all ages. Splash in the saltwater pool, play croquet or volleyball on the lawns.
It stands on the edge of a hamlet, near a pretty town, with a bistro a five-minute stroll and great walks all around. Beyond the ha-ha are fields dotted with Charolais herds, stretching to the hills beyond. Help yourself to veg from the gardens; visit Salieu’s excellent Saturday market. Back home the kitchen is a dream, with plenty of space for a few cooks – or ask Molly about hiring a private chef for your stay.
The owners can steer you to the best Burgundy wine domaines, and the Morvan Natural Park, with its rivers, lakes, waterfalls and ancient woods is another treasure.
