The Experience

In a courtyard where coaching horses once rested, now there are colourful gardens where children can play. Breakfast out here on croissants and homemade jams, or sit out with a glass of wine and a book from the library. In winter, cuddle up by the wood-burner amid Monsieur’s choice of antiques and paintings. South-facing bedrooms, up wide oak stairs, are elegantly decorated by Madame, an interior designer. Two have modern en suite showers but loos are shared. Table d’hôte is popular – guests often ask for the recipes – and you can book cooking lessons. There’s a pool and tennis and happy days can be spent fishing, golfing and walking in pristine countryside.

We had a lovely stay at L Etoile Argentee. Our hosts looked after us very well. The house, garden and grounds are beautiful. The buildings have been carefully restored. Our bedroom was very big and beautifully decorated. We had a delicious dinner and breakfast with local produce. We can highly recommend a stay at L'Etoile Argentee. Chantal

What a wonderful place and just fabulous hosts Isabelle and Jacques, and dog Cassie. We were welcomed with an open fire and a cup of tea. In the evening Isabelle cooked a wonderful, delicious meal for us with a beautifully laid table and candles. It was so nice to chat to the hosts and we had a wonderful evening – more like having dinner with friends than with owners. The room was lovely, a great hot shower and the next day a tasty breakfast. I would love to return one day and stay for longer.

We sadly only spent one night at this gorgeous house full of French country antiques. We had a delicious supper, plenty of wine and lovely breakfast.Isabel and Jaques could not have been more welcoming with us and the children. My only complaint being that we didn’t stay longer... a true Pinterest experience from start to finish!!

What a special stay at L'Étoile Argentée! Our hosts Isabelle and Jean were lovely and welcoming and their home is beautiful. We booked this very last minute as our final stop on our trip and we’re so glad we did - a lovely relaxed afternoon in the gardens with a glass of wine, followed by an amazing dinner cooked by Isabelle, sat in the open barn with candles - a real treat and a must do, rather than dining out! In the morning we had a lovely relaxed breakfast before setting of home. Thank you so much Isabelle & Jean - we’ll certainly be back again & telling friends and family to do the same!

What a nice place! Our stay started with the question: Would you like to see your room or rather start with a beer? And only got better from there. Kind hosts, good food & wine in an open barn at the fire. Overall we had the impression that this place is truly a (family) home from home. We'd come back any time.

We arrived at L'Etoile Argentee late on a Saturday evening after a long day of driving and were warmly welcomed by our hosts with an excellent dinner and wine in the candlelit courtyard. The building is beautiful and the rooms spacious. Staying at L'Etoile Argentee was a really special experience and one that I hope to repeat again soon!

Upon our (late) arrival to L'Etoile Argentee, we were warmly welcomed by our hosts and their friendly dog, Cassie. Because of our delay, all the restaurants in town were closed, so Isabelle quickly and graciously put together a delicious (and impromptu!) candlelit meal in the courtyard for us. After dinner, we retired to our comfortable bedrooms. The next morning, we showered in the modern bathroom and then enjoyed a simple breakfast in the beautiful dining room before getting back on the road. L'Etoile Argentee was a highlight of our trip and highly recommended to fellow travelers.

We arrived at Ischa's home to be welcomed like old friends. Nothing was too much trouble and as we drove into the candlelit courtyard, we knew we had chosen well. Delicious supper with a choice of wines, they are the perfect hosts. Rooms spacious, beautifully decorated and large bathroom for our use. A total gem...so good we came back again on the way home!

After a long drive and a late arrival, we received a warm welcome, a glass of wine and a comfortable chair. Soon an excellent meal arrived. We enjoyed local ham, with rocket and sliced raw courgettes, followed by simply cooked scallops and tomatoes on tagliatelle, then some excellent regional cheeses, and a pear and chocolate creme brûlée. We drank a bottle of white Burgundy, unlabelled and mysterious but delicious. We slept soundly in a comfortable bed, in a quirky bedroom and next morning a simple breakfast set us up for the day. This place is quite exceptional and highly recommended.

We were 6 cyclists who very much enjoyed our stay with Isabelle. She was extremely warm and welcoming, making us feel very much at home. The house was beautiful, individual and tasteful, and we ate a delicious meal outside. Altogether everything I hoped it would be and more.

Great, Friendly & Helpful hosts, Lovely comfortable room for our family of 4, gorgeous food & wine, easy to find, Lovely Cassie dog, WiFi available too. We took 4 rooms for other members of family and had a very good evening. Our two little ones (2.5/1.5yr olds) were very welcome and felt straight at home.... definitely would go back!! X

We had a really enjoyable two night stay at L'Etoile Argentee. There were a lot of places in the local area to visit, so much so that we need to visit again! Isabelle is friendly and helpful and made us feel very at home. We enjoyed beautiful 3 course evening meals and our children were catered for especially. I highly recommend L'Etoile Argentee, my children didn't want to leave!
