The Experience

If you come as a foursome you’ll have the whole place to yourselves, including a bright salon with comfortable sofa and chairs, help-yourself smart teas or Nespresso and two outdoor spaces for relaxing in the shade with a book or a glass of Sancerre. Breakfast is served indoors but no objection will be made to you nipping outside with it if you prefer. There’s a fridge available too if you want to bring food back.

Bedrooms are both on the first floor, not huge, but plenty big enough with impeccable 30s details, posh organic bedding and scents from Dumas de Paris. En suite bathrooms have a walk-in shower or a cast-iron tub, both are chic with gold taps and shampoo from Damana.

If the weather is foul you’ll find board games in the salon, lots of cafés nearby, an art deco cinema and a twice-weekly market. There are detailed maps on the walls of the regions and the towns and châteaux of the whole area for history and wine tastings.

Accommodation

Reviews

It’s worthwhile making a detour to stay with Thierry. What an absolutely beautiful B&B. Exquisitely furnished, really authentically decorated, immaculately clean. I haven’t got a negative thing to say. My stay was perfect. The bed linen is top quality and the bed, super comfortable. A copious breakfast served in the most delightful morning room, deco and attention to detail faultless.

Amanda, Floirac

A time-warp experience, transported back to the 1930s by Thierry and his elegant art-deco B&B.

Location

The neighbourhood

There’s a beautiful bridge over the river which you can cycle across - there's safe storage for bikes in the cellar - or wander the pretty streets on market day. The Loire Museum is just round the corner but the main attractions here are the châteaux and vineyards, especially the fascinating Guédelon (built today using medieval methods and materials) plus those at Sancerre, Pouilly and Menetou-Salon.

Local points of interest from Thierry Jaegy

  • This elegant 1930s house opens its doors to you. Antiques, works of art, silverware, glassware... all the charm of art deco awaits you. Only two bedrooms, living room and patio just for you… you'll feel right at home.
  • Located in the heart of the vineyards of Sancerre, Pouilly-sur-Loire, slopes of Gienois, Menetou Salon... the town of Cosne sur Loire is in the heart of the Loire: beaches, canoeing, boat trips and bike rides.
  • The small town of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire is bustling with life. Restaurants, bars, cinema (Art Deco), shops, railway station... everything is a 5-minute walk from the house.
  • The Loire by bike: a bike room is located in the basement of the house and the old kitchens have been transformed into a self-service laundry room.
  • To visit around Cosne: Guedelon, Veselay, Apremont sur Allier, Briare, Saint-Fargeaux, Charité sur Loire….
  • We are certified by 'Accueil Vélo' as the cycle path runs by 5 minutes away from the house. As we also have bike storage, we're the perfect place to explore the Loire on two wheels!

Introducing

Thierry Jaegy

Thierry has lived in this area all his life. He travelled a lot during his previous career then he trained as a fine art expert in 18th and 19th century portraiture and you'll see his impressive collection on the walls. Thierry lives nearby and sleeps on site when guests are staying. He gives you a fine breakfast and can help you plan trips, good restaurants and routes for cycling.
