The Experience

This former post house is on the main street of a small wine village not far from the autoroute, and four of the five bedrooms have views of vineyards. Thierry and Philippe will welcome you enthusiastically with a hot drink or a glass of wine and love to share their knowledge of the region.

Thierry is an excellent cook, and breakfasts using locally sourced products are served around a long table on the terrace or in the dining room – homemade cakes and jams included. He can also make dinner with a bit of notice, or you can nip next door to the café for pizza; drive to Igé in ten minutes or Cluny in 20 minutes for more choice.

Settle in the cosy guest living room next to the wood-burner with a book and help yourself to tea or coffee and nibbles from a small kitchen area. You can swim in the heated pool in the garden or sit out on the terrace; venture out to explore Cluny, Romanesque churches, the hilltop village of Brandon and lots of good walking paths.

Cannot praise le relais de scissé highly enough. Comfort, welcome and food are all exceptional.

Relaxing and very friendly, rooms are spacious, bathrooms a treat, and the food is excellent! Each bedroom has a different personality, but all modern chic.

The neighbourhood

The house is set in the village of Saint Gengoux de Scisse, which has only 600 inhabitants. You’re in the countryside between Mâcon, Cluny and Tournus, and only 15 minutes from the A6 autoroute.

Local points of interest from Thierry Mazille

  • You are in the right place ! If Burgundy is rich in delicious things to taste, immediately open your eyes to the vineyard and its thousand Romanesque churches. On foot, by bike or by car, ask us and we will make you discover our paradise
  • Cluny Abbey, take a trip a thousand years back! Or the abbey of Tournus, or the castle of Cormatin, or the medieval village of Brancion, beware, your stay could last longer than expected!
  • It can be very hot in Burgundy, so treat yourself to a bath of freshness at the caves of Azé or Blanot
  • Solutré and his good Pouilly Fuissé, but also the St Vérand or the Chardonnay, we will give you good addresses of winemakers where you can taste good wines ... in a good mood!
  • We know some good ceramists and recognized artists. At the Relais you will admire some specimens but we count on your curiosity to make us discover your favourites.
  • You can also rest! phew! Around the pool, piano or reading in the lounge in the shade of the old stones of the Relais

Thierry Mazille

Thierry is a retired nurse who grew up in Mâcon and Philippe is from Grenoble and an engineer by trade. They first visited the B&B when it was run by a Dutch couple and, shortly after, saw that it was for sale. After four months of intense re-decorating and a change of name, they opened for business.
