The
Experience

You are on the outskirts of a medieval village close to the Armançon river and this is perfect for families. Choose between the cottage or coach house each has attractively decorated rooms with oak beams, flagstone floors, great mattresses and good fabrics. Bathrooms are clean and modern and there’s a play barn full of toys. Breakfast is served at one convivial table – freshly baked bread and pastries or the Full Monty from Annabella’s trusty Aga. She will cook you a delicious dinner too if you ask. Warm, friendly hosts, a heated pool, private gardens, a tearoom and gift shop on site make this is a jewel. Enchanting.

Reviews

Just returned back from a great week at Petit Village. Hosts were excellent and very helpful. The Burgundy canal is very close and great to cycle along with plenty to see and quite a wildlife haven. A very unspoilt area with a surprising amount of places to visit, and of course some very good wines! An excellent place to cycle with very little traffic. Well worth a visit.

Local points of interest from Annabella Ware

  • We are in the heart of the Armançon valley and a short walk from the beautiful Canal de Bourgogne which is perfect for bike rides and leisurely walks. It's a haven of peace and great for wildlife and bird spotting. Artists and photographers will love it!
  • Burgundy is synonymous with fine wine, with Chablis to the north of us and the Cotes de Nuits & Cote de Beaune to the south. Closer to home are the superb wines of Epineuil, Irancy and Tonnerre. We are also a short drive to Champagne.
  • The UNESCO world heritage sites of Abbey de Fontenay and Vezelay are nearby, and we are surrounded by beautiful chateux like Ancy-le-Franc, Tanlay and Bussy-Rabutin.
  • We are close to two "plus beaux villages de France" Medieval treasure Noyers -sur-Serein, and Flavigny, where the movie Chocolat was filmed. It is also famous for the exquisite pure white aniseed balls, made there since the 11th century.
  • The area is great for kids, with kayaking, tree walking adventure parks, rock climbing, river swimming, animal parks and open farms where you can milk the goats and make some cheese!
  • Le Petit Village is equally lovely in all seasons. Come trout fishing in the spring and truffle hunting in Autumn. The summers are lazy and hot the winters are frosty and bright and with a log burner in each cottage you can snuggle up after a winter walk!
