Sumptuous rooms are bright with flowers, bedrooms are pretty, cosy, comfy, appealing and the charming bathroom is shared. Graham and Christine, open, enthusiastic, entertaining, hands-on, go the extra mile for their guests and hold evening recitals and exhibitions for local artists in the courtyard. Wonderful people and amazing area. Utterly delightful and exceeded my expectations

Caroline, Manchester

Stunning house in a wonderful village, well worth a detour. Within easy reach of Avallon and Vezelay, both worth visiting and set in beautiful Burgundian countryside, and all a little over 2 hours from Paris. Graham and Christine, as well as the two dogs (not forgetting Rhubarb the cat) all hugely welcoming. A very memorable stay; and we'll be staying again as soon as we can.

Thank you to Graham and Christine for another fabulous experience at Maison Creme Anglaise. Your hospitality and accommodation is exceptional as always. The views from Maison Creme Anglaise are just stunning, stretching across the gorgeous Burgundy countryside. The town is beautiful and the countryside is well worth exploring. Graham and Christine provide an easy-going, friendly and warm welcome, instantly making you feel at home. Accommodation, food, pool and garden are all excellent. The place is clean and well-equipped. Our ONLY choice for a place to stay in this part of France!

Local points of interest from Graham & Christine Battye

  • Ask to have a look at Christine’s two published books: ‘Walking Back to Happiness’, and a children's book in both French and English (Cowardy, Cowardy Custard). If you are lucky you might get an autograph from Custard the dog!
  • Graham runs a charity called ‘Le Serinette’ - where he host concerts, mainly classical, in the B&B reception/dining room - the money goes to providing musical education and fun for children in the area.
  • They host musical events, and visiting choirs. At the end of October: a week long piano course, bringing in pianists from all over Europe to study with Alan Fraser, a well-known music teacher.
