Stay in rustic splendour in an imposing, walled medieval fortress surrounded by gorgeous countryside with many hilltop villages to visit. The wine is good, food delicious and there’s much interesting wildlife to spot.
Bring hiking boots, borrow bikes; ride horses; come as a group and take all three cottages. Eat Jurassien feasts at the huge stone table in the courtyard or under the poolside pergola; stroll down to the lake at the end of the impressive park for a spot of wild swimming and bobbing about.
Pierre will tell you about the lynx that roam the surrounding forests and advise on everything from fishing in Lake Vouglans to Festivals in Beaume les Messieurs. Take time too, to do not very much: settle by a log-burning fire, drink in the views, watch and listen – the Jura is a nature-lover’s dream.
