The Experience

Dutch charm now fills this handsome old townhouse with its impressive panelling and Art Nouveau windows. Gerda and Thomas have made the street-side theirs so you have lofty, uncluttered bedrooms overlooking the informal garden; parquet floors and beautiful large beds. Yours too: the sparkling pool and gentle hammock swinging from a pair of pine trees; the large sitting room – shelves of crime novels, doors onto the terrace; buffet breakfast feasts and friendly, French and Italian-style dinners. Rent bikes or a Canal du Midi barge for the day, sample Minervois wines, delve into things Cathar, return to restful, historic Homps.

A very special place to stay. Our hosts, who were so friendly and helpful plus each evening on our return we were greeted with drinks and snacks, which were very welcome after a long hot day. The bedroom was large, comfortable, very clean and well appointed. Plus a pretty private garden and pool with a delicious breakfast served on the terrace . The location is ideal for visiting so many interesting places and to have so many good restaurants within walking distance was great. We certainly hope to return and have no hesitation in recommending this lovely chambre d'hote

  • Nearby Olonzac has charming and popular local market on Tuesday morning with plenty possibility to taste local products.
  • Visit Cathar highlights Carcassonne and Minèrve. Carcassonne is a must see, best visited early morning to avoid the masses. Minèrve, rated one of France most beautiful villages is close by. Do not forget to take a walk down in the valley.
  • Homps is a lively village on the Canal du Midi with terrasses on the side of the Canal for a drink in the afternoon and 6 restaurants at walking distance from the Le Jardin d'Homps.
  • The mediterrean coast is only 35 min by car. The wide beaches of Gruissan or Narbonne Plage are waiting for you.
