Château Massal

Le Vigan, Gard
Bed & Breakfast

In the family for generations, a ‘petit château’ full of elegance and charm, with space, gardens, views and a heart-felt welcome from Madame

4 rooms

Rooms sleep 2

The château façade flanks the road and the many-terraced garden rambles behind, with views across river and red-roofed town. Up a stone spiral are big beautiful bedrooms with a château feel. Warm, deep colours, walnut parquet and quirky touches set off family furniture to perfection; one room has a bathroom in the tower, another houses an ancient grand piano. Madame, one of an old French silk family who have been here for several generations, is as elegant and charming as her home. She will tell you all the best places to go, after sociable breakfast around the big dining room table. Enchanting!

Charming Madame welcomed us with a cup of tea in the garden. The room was delightful, spacious and creeky floored, breakfast simple and just right. We went for supper in Le Vigan with Francoise's clear directions. All in all a very sweet and pleasant stop over, with Francoise's excellent recommendations for places to visit nearby - she is passionate about the region.

Kate, Taunto

We would like to place on record how much we enjoyed our two night stay at Chateau Massal. Mme du Luc was a charming hostess and gave us magnificent breakfasts and excellent local advice. We have already recommended this B&B to friends in Provence who wish to visit Le Vigan.
