When David and Sandrine returned to their Beaucaire roots, they found a perfect vessel for their creativity in this 18th-century estate. All has been authentically and lovingly restored. There are B&B rooms in the main house, and renovated apartments in the stables, up on the first floor, spacious, minimalist and steeped in rustic character. Imagine high beamed ceilings and old terracotta, solid oak and stylish wicker, white cushions, bright paintings, open kitchens and flawless fixtures and fittings. Each apartment has an outside spot, one has a corner terrace. Beyond lie exquisite Italianate gardens from which shady stone pergolas emerge… olive trees, jasmine, bougainvillea, ping pong, boules and a huge shared pool. Consider an aperitif – or table d’hôtes (twice weekly in summer); in winter, get cosy by the fireplace in the salon, charming with deep fuchsia walls. Ask about cookery courses, wine tastings, horse riding, canoeing. It is hugely original, wonderfully artistic, and the information booklet includes enough markets to keep the lunch bag brimming.
