The Experience

Vézénobres caps its hilltop site with a crown of unspoilt medieval stone. Famed for its festival of figs, the village brims with arts, crafts and festivities, and is inhabited all year round. Find the clock tower in the old centre, then climb the townhouse stairs to your charming gîte. At the top, simple, airy and inviting, is L’Hirondelle; steep stairs take you up to the smart bedroom with black iron bedstead and a romantic terrace for stunning sunsets – and barbecues! The open-plan living space has views of vines, hills and woodland, a big open fireplace, books and games for cosy nights, a farmhouse crockery cupboard, a long pine dining table, a small but well-equipped galley kitchen. Below: a pretty walled terrace with a plunge pool and pots of bright flowers; eat out in the fig tree’s shade. Welcoming owner Julie and her husband live nearby. There’s wonderful hiking and biking through spring-flowered countryside, ideal for active, post-buggy children. Return to the village square, beautiful with its historic fountain playing, and several places to eat in high season.

Not only was the property perfect for us, a couple, but the village of Vezenobres proved absolutely magical. A cobbled, hilltop, Provencal village that it's actually very difficult to leave. You can easily enjoy wandering around it, and everything you need is close at hand. We've booked L'Hirondelle again next year, which is a massive endorsement of its charm and not something we usually do. From the moment we stepped inside, we felt relaxed. There's a roof terrace at the foot of the bed (we didn't mind the clock at all) and, of course, a cooling plunge pool. Can't wait to get back there

We loved L'Hirondelle and we loved Vezenobres! The village itself is beautiful and very friendly and L'Hirondelle was a wonderful and truly relaxing place to stay.

We have wanted to stay in the South of France for some time. What a place and village. Fantastic views, well equipped but with the option of eating out locally. Plenty to do in the area and we left with plenty to still see and do which means another visit. Excellent value and a holiday with plenty of memories. Thank you so much.

  • Just 1 example of our lovely reviews "This is a lovely, calm and peaceful town with wonderful fig aromas and cicada sounds. We had a very relaxing week in this lovely accommodation. Everything you need is here and there’s so much space. Quite delightful!"
  • Relax in Vézénobres which has all amenities (rest aurant, boulangerie, creperie, tabac etc), people watch from a street cafe or take the little mountain steam train from nearby Anduze or simply hang around on the terrace and chill in the splash pool ….
