Oodles of history right here in the unspoilt village where you can dither around cobbled shady streets and archways, discovering doorways, balconies, stone stairways. Quite a steep walk leads you up to the stone house – step up the stairs in the courtyard to your first floor apartment; more stairs take you up to a secluded walled terrace with a splash pool, tables and chairs in the shade of a fig tree, and bonny potted flowers. The living room faces south and has huge, rural views from its shuttered windows. An open-plan kitchenette has all you need to conjure up wizard meals and you will sleep soundly in rather smart bedrooms, but you won’t be able to resist sitting in the square watching the fountain running and the people passing. There are plenty of restaurants here to choose from, and an annual fig festival to attend, not to mention the world championships for square boules! Further afield there’s Uzès with its famous Saturday market, Nîmes, the Pont du Gard, and hiking and biking galore; come in early summer when the countryside is bursting with wild flowers. You will be welcomed by friendly Julie who lives nearby.
