The Experience

Oodles of history right here in the unspoilt village where you can dither around cobbled shady streets and archways, discovering doorways, balconies, stone stairways. Quite a steep walk leads you up to the stone house – step up the stairs in the courtyard to your first floor apartment; more stairs take you up to a secluded walled terrace with a splash pool, tables and chairs in the shade of a fig tree, and bonny potted flowers. The living room faces south and has huge, rural views from its shuttered windows. An open-plan kitchenette has all you need to conjure up wizard meals and you will sleep soundly in rather smart bedrooms, but you won’t be able to resist sitting in the square watching the fountain running and the people passing. There are plenty of restaurants here to choose from, and an annual fig festival to attend, not to mention the world championships for square boules! Further afield there’s Uzès with its famous Saturday market, Nîmes, the Pont du Gard, and hiking and biking galore; come in early summer when the countryside is bursting with wild flowers. You will be welcomed by friendly Julie who lives nearby.

Lovely stay in this really beautiful hill village. Flat had everything that could be needed including a superb view towards the Cevennes mountains. Our welcome was very warm and Julie was extremely helpful and informative. The restaurants and bakery were fantastic -best viennoiserie I have ever tasted. An absolute delight. Highly recommended.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Julie Aldred

  • 'Village de Caractère' - Vézénobres is a stunning hillside 'Cité Médiévale' and is a labelled 'Village de Caractère'. The beautiful village hosts many events - not to mention the national fig festivals and the annual World Square Boules Championships …!
  • 'Carrefour du Sud' - Vineyards and gastronomic delights abound in this crossroads of the South - with The Côtes du Rhône & Provence to the East, the Mediterranean to the South, the Cevennes & Languedoc to the West and the Gorges de l'Ardeche to the North.
  • Easy Access to many world famous attractions and sites of historical significance including Uzès and it's fabulous Saturday morning market, Le Pont du Gard, Nimes, Montpellier, Avignon, Arles, The Camargue and Saint Guilhem-le-Dèsert to name but a few...
  • 'Your only constraint will be time!'. Play golf at a number of outstanding golf courses within 45 minutes drive, walk in the National Parks of the Cévennes and the swim in the mountain rivers. Canoeing, rafting and horse-riding are all within easy access.
  • Just one example of the lovely reviews we receive…"We can certainly see why people keep returning to this area. The view from the window whilst writing this is enough! A beautiful village with all you really need and definitely a genuine taste of France".
  • Relax in Vézénobres which has all amenities (rest aurant, boulangerie, creperie, tabac etc), people watch from a street cafe or take the little mountain steam train from nearby Anduze or simply hang around on the terrace and chill in the splash pool ….
