On the outskirts of a hamlet deep in the countryside is your own slice of rural life. Stylishly renovated, your large three storey 18th-century farmhouse is hugely welcoming and retains its charm with original features such as exposed stone walls and vaulted ceilings. There’s space for all to spread out, including a cosy sitting room for winter and another light and bright one with doors to the terrace for summer, but also to gather; the open-plan kitchen/dining space will delight cooks and all fit comfortably at the long wooden table. Bedrooms with comfy beds and great views are split between the main house and the adjacent wing, with a single and a twin up very steep wooden steps on the top floor. Neither of the two main bathrooms are en suite but both are attractively designed and sparkling clean. You could simply lounge in the lawned garden beside the pool, but there’s plenty to do: go horse riding, walking or cycling, canoe along the Cèze, visit the Roman aqueduct Pont du Gard, browse the markets in Uzès and taste the local wine. Return to dine on the terrace, admiring your views of the vineyards and wooded hills beyond.
