Mas Vacquières

St Just & Vacquières, Gard
Bed & Breakfast

Dine superbly under leafy trees, sleep deeply in elegant beds, dip in the pool, stroll down to the stream - a very special Dutch-run place

3 rooms

Rooms sleep 2

Thomas and Miriam have restored these lovely 18th-century buildings with pretty Dutch simplicity, white walls a perfect foil for southern-toned fabrics in outlying bedrooms reached by steep stone stairs. Mulberry trees where silkworms once fed still flower; the little vaulted room is intimate and alcoved, the big soft salon a delight. Tables on the enchantingly flowered terrace under leafy trees and a lawn sloping down to the stream make perfect spots for silent gazing; the food is superb, the table d’hôtes a delight. Enjoy the pool, sheltered in its roofless barn… it’s all so relaxed you can stay all day.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Thomas & Miriam van Dijke

  • The nearby historic city of Uzés has many monuments, such as the Ducal castle and the Frenestelle Tower. Apart from the medieval magic you may enjoy the wonderful little shops and numerous cosy cafés.
  • There is a picturesque twice weekly market in Uzés (Weds & Sat) selling Proveçal scent and a lot of hand crafted products.
