Transgardon en Cévennes

St Privat de Vallongue, Lozère
Bed & Breakfast

In the rolling hills of the Cévennes, a restored cottage with nature-loving owners, a stream, gorgeous meals and perfect peace

3 rooms

Rooms sleep 2

A light-filled valley and utter solitude. Eco-minded Pascal and Frédérique fell in love with this remote hamlet, then restored the main house and a pretty stone cottage with three, very private, bedrooms, all with their own entrance. Find gorgeous linen, gleaming antique furniture, good bathrooms. Wander up the path and over a bridge to the welcoming main house for a hunker by the stove, breakfasts of homemade brioches and honey from their bees, or a divine supper of local meat and home grown veg. Swim in the stream under the old bridge (catch a trout in the rockpool?). Hike, cycle, explore… or do nothing.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place as somewhere to really get away for a relaxing few days. The owners are charming and relaxed and feed you very well. We hope to return soon.

This is a magical place, the owners renovated this rustic little hamlet in the middle of nowhere, the rooms are very comfortable and spotless. Breakfast was great and so were the dinners served in different porcelain plates and crystal glasses every night. The Gardon at the bottom of the property is lovely to wade in (in warm weather) and nothing was too much trouble for the owners. They gave us good advice for walks and were full of attentions. Our only suggestion for improvement is that, as it was quite hot (we had the top room), a fan would have really helped for a perfect nightsleep.

We were delighted to arrive at Pascal and Frederique's lovely home after a long day in the car. Each of the rooms are lovely with small details like the homemade tisane bags and the shower rooms are wonderful. We enjoyed a delicious meal and tried Pascal's homemade rum and honey! We bathed in the river and really didn't want to leave such a quiet, relaxing and unique place. I hope we can return one day.

Alison, Aberdeen

What an enchanting place! Pascal and Frederique could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Everything has been done with so much care and attention to detail. They have created a small corner of heaven. We loved it. Thank you so much - and for improving my French!

Indeed everything is there: Warm welcome of the owners magic natural environment (path(way), river, shoulder, place of rest, etc.) rooms(chambers) renovated tastefully and refinement, protection of environment and an irreproachable cleanliness. Copious, diversified breakfasts and "bio" presented with happiness We were not able to test dinners taken in common (it's a pity and regrets) For the nature lovers, with it more the comments informed about the owner and the permanent dedication of the owner. That of the happiness in ....... a delight Thank you to Frédérique and Pascal

From the moment we arrived at Transgardon we knew we were going to enjoy ourselves. Pascal and Frederique went out of their way to ensure that we had the perfect stay. Over the course of our week there we stayed in all three of the bedrooms and could not decide which one we liked best - they were all extremely comfortable and full of individual charm. Pascal's advice on walking in the area was invaluable. The breakfasts and evening meals were delicious and all the better for knowing that Frederique had prepared them using organic produce, much of it from her own garden. A little paradise!

We stayed 3 nights with Pascal and Frederique in a delightful beautifully designed room which had its own terrace. Just above the river and 'pool'. The swimming was the most wonderful experience - small trout around me, butterflies, dragonflies and clear fresh water. Wonderful meals cooked by Frederique . It is the most secluded and idyllic place. Pascal met us nearby and guided us on to a hidden track to the house. They are are an amazing couple - Pascal rebuilt and restored everything installing all the facilities you could need,Frederique has filled the little houses with beautiful things.

Transgardon was the highlight of a wonderful holiday in the South of France. Frederique and Pascal were very welcoming and eager to share their passion for the place. And what an incredible place it is - we went for long walks in the woods, swam in ice cold rock pools, and relaxed in the shaded gardens. The rooms are carved out of old stone cottages which gives them a unique character, and they are very clean and well appointed. The breakfasts - served on a terrace overlooking the garden - were delicious and abundant. We had a wonderful time in Transgardon. Thanks Pascal and Frederique!

Something very special and highly recommended. We were given the warmest welcome at Transgardon and had the most perfect stay in old farm buildings tastefully transformed into wonderful holiday accommodation. We wanted a little bit of luxury off the beaten track and we got it totally. Don't worry about the 1km track down the valley to reach it - the reward is more than worth it. We also had a delicious (fish) evening meal with the owners and next day a sunshiney breakfast outside with home made breads, jams & honeys to die for! The owners are bee-keepers and sell their nectar if you want it.
