The Experience

How wonderful to be part of magical Collioure and not just a passing tourist, if only for a week. Sitting among pot plants ‘on the rocks’, the apartment is in the village’s prettiest pedestrian street, a festival of bougainvillea and geraniums. Home to a legendary colony of artists a century ago, Collioure still glows in the limpid light that inspired Matisse and his friends. The house, done in a pleasing mix of traditional and modern with bright spots of colour and reminders that you are in French Catalonia, is full of that light and a local artist’s work hangs on the living room walls. Your pot-planted terrace has a glorious view of the bay. Bedrooms are done in calm neutral fabrics; one has a large shuttered window, the other has no exterior window but is lit from a high glazed panel onto the kitchen. This again combines traditional décor with modern practicality, all fittings and equipment are brand new, as is the good tiled shower room. Both bedrooms and the “Orangery” are cooled by traditional ceiling fans. There are medieval marvels to explore, myriad water sports, bikes to hire, vineyards to tour – or you can sit and gaze at the sea and its changing moods.

A peace of heaven, tucked away, just a few steps away from the quiet bussle of Collioure, the property itself, PERFECT, it has everything anybody needs and much more, I find it hard to put into words the feelings of quiet ans serenity I felt, picking up fresh bagettes at the local bakery every morning, enjoying them with coffee on the deck and just "LOOKING" WOW!, my sister who was staying in. #8 joined usand was amazed at the beauty of the place, now it will be a race to see who can book it first, Thanks You Geoff and Wendy for sharing your Heaven, PJC

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Wendy & Geoff Fewtrell

  • We are a minutes walk away from two of the towns beaches and the town centre. A Butcher and Boulangerie are also close by.
  • Local restaurants are a short walk away. You can enjoy seafood heaven, classic french cuisine or simply get a takeaway pizza. There is boundless choice.
  • A bustling market is open on Wednesday and Sunday. Fresh seafood, cooked meats and pastries are available along with the usual assortment of local produce.
  • Public transport is easy. The train station is 10 minutes away and the local €1 Bus stops in the town. The Tourist information office is a five minute walk away and will provide you with everything you will need.
  • The garden overlooks the sea directly. You can sit on benches under the large retractable sunshade reading for hours on end or simply watch the boats go by. There is a Webber BQ available and beach chairs.
