The
Experience

The approach to this double-glazed, well-insulated farmhouse is undulating farmland with wooded hills and you are close to one of the most beautiful villages of the Creuse: watery Chambon sur Voueize. The farmhouse gite has a small lawn and marvellous private terrace at the back for sunsets and unbroken views and Andrea, and her friendly retrievers, live just next door in the barn. Your three storeys are linked by a central wooden stair, with a living room on the ground floor (wood-burner, pine table, leather sofa, satellite TV) and a long, characterful, well-equipped kitchen through which one bathroom is reached, pristine and pampering with a walk-in shower. Then a lovely landing with a sofa and books, a small shower, and a bedroom big, airy and light, with chunky beams and polished oak boards. Bedroom two is under the eaves. Logs are left for chilly spring and autumn nights, along with a welcome pack and home-grown produce in season, and bathrobes in the top room for the flit downstairs. Enjoy lakes for swimmers, hills for cyclists, and walks for lazy hikers.

Reviews

Beautiful setting and countryside. Cottage is roomy, well equipped kitchen, bed comfy, fridge full of goodies including wine. A total escape from our busy town, close enough to local market, meals out where the locals eat, lake, nature reserve or the larger town of Montlucon. Andrea is delightful, so are the dogs who made our visit special with our dog. A pleasure to share a glass of wine with her or take a long walks straight out of the garden. Clear starry skies above. Andrea helped us with the vet and paperwork and made us a delicious home cooked meal. We slept well and enjoyed it all.

Super place, lovely and clean and perfect for our family of 4! Andrea has thought of everything from kitchen utensils to ideas of where to visit. She's on hand next door so can always answer any questions you may have. We visited lots of super places which she kindly recommended. If you want peace and quiet and to chill out this is the place. If you are happy to drive and explore this is a perfect base too! Main village 10 mins away in car, lovely Auberge with great food and good supermarket to stock up with essentials. Super place go and explore and have fun!

Beautiful views, fabulous hosts! My husband and I stayed for 5 nights with our 6yr old son on a family holiday/business trip. The property is in a fabulous location with the most amazing views and the peace is sublime. The property is immaculate with every home comfort you could possibly need. On arrival we had milk, butter, juice, bread and even a chilled bottle of rose in the fridge, very welcome! Andrea could not have been more hospitable and friendly, always on hand to give advise on where to go to eat or what to see and even blowing up a paddling pool for my son, bisous to the retrievers!
