The
Experience

Six idyllic acres of open fields and flowered shrubberies, a small orchard and a fenced pool, ping pong for the lively, massages for the limb-weary, a covered terrace for leisurely lunches and barbecues… what more could you want: a yoga space in the old bergerie? There’s that too and a great big barn for parties and for children to hare around in – this is super family-friendly. Find a beautiful, pitch-roofed, 18th-century ferme-manoir at the edge of the village it once served, with views of the Limousin hills. If the outside is abundant, the inside is a dream, with grand beams in various shapes and sizes, a huge stone fireplace,  a refined country palette of whites and creams, and shutters to keep out the dawn. There are three storeys of nooks and crannies, billiards and books, so much space that large groups coexist in harmony, and if the chefs want a break, two ladies come in to cook (rather well!). Walk to the pretty village of St Priest-Ligoure, swim in the lakes of the National Park, get bikes delivered to the door. The designer mix of old and new continues to eight bedrooms, up and down, and six super bathrooms between them.

Location

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Clio Wood

  • The Manoir has a superb setting in beautiful rolling hills and green valleys, walks and cycle rides are divine from the doorstep or in the two nearby national parks: Parc Naturel Perigord Limousin & Parc Naturel Regional de Millevaches.
  • History more your bag? The absolutely incredible Centre de la Memoire, Oradour sur Glane, is a must. But be warned, it's a tearjerker!
  • Culture abounds in the beautiful medieval city of Limoges, with plenty of art, porcelain, museums and concerts to satisfy the most demanding of tastes.
  • Clio is an interior designer and loves the local flea-markets, antiques fairs, vide-greniers & brocantes. We have a list in the Manoir of the best local places, and if you just can't help yourself, we can even help arrange delivery of items back home :-)
  • Foodies will be spoilt for choice in the Limousin. Celebrated for its beef, it's also home to many other delicacies, all of which you can sample at our local gastronomic restaurant, Moulin de la Gorce.
  • And for the kids, you can find 600 animals from 130 species at Parc Reynou, set in a 19th century former porcelain factory and only 15 minutes drive away.
