Six idyllic acres of open fields and flowered shrubberies, a small orchard and a fenced pool, ping pong for the lively, massages for the limb-weary, a covered terrace for leisurely lunches and barbecues… what more could you want: a yoga space in the old bergerie? There’s that too and a great big barn for parties and for children to hare around in – this is super family-friendly. Find a beautiful, pitch-roofed, 18th-century ferme-manoir at the edge of the village it once served, with views of the Limousin hills. If the outside is abundant, the inside is a dream, with grand beams in various shapes and sizes, a huge stone fireplace, a refined country palette of whites and creams, and shutters to keep out the dawn. There are three storeys of nooks and crannies, billiards and books, so much space that large groups coexist in harmony, and if the chefs want a break, two ladies come in to cook (rather well!). Walk to the pretty village of St Priest-Ligoure, swim in the lakes of the National Park, get bikes delivered to the door. The designer mix of old and new continues to eight bedrooms, up and down, and six super bathrooms between them.
