Experience deep country authenticity at this eco B&B in the lush Loire Valley. Rooms are wood-clad, breakfasts are organic, animals roam...

Come not for luxury but for deep country authenticity – and to make friends with a generous, charming, free-thinking family who gave up Paris for this lush corner of France. They have restored, renovated and eco-converted a run-down farm, insulated it with hemp, wattle and daub, then added wood-burning stoves, organic breakfasts... and cats, dogs, horses, hens, donkeys. Family rooms in outbuildings round the courtyard are wood-clad with sloping ceilings, rudimentary furnishings, mix and match bed linen, the odd rug. Dinner is in the kitchen diner – or the barns when there are campers. A place for new horizons.

"We had the family room for one night (14/08/15) and wished we had booked for longer! The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and the room certainly big enough for the five of us. The location was perfect as we were on our way down to the south and needed a stop over. the children loved the farm with a big trampoline, table tennis table and lots of room to explore. Breakfast was plentiful and consisted of homemade bread and preserves."

"Le Bouchot is a hidden gem. We were given a very warm French welcome and helped to our spacious room in one of the farm’s barns. The room had ample space and enough beds for me, my wife and our 2 children. The children enjoyed playing with the animals, picking vegetables, playing on the trampoline and finding frogs in the pond. We elected to have food with the hosts each night. The food was a wonderful concoction of homemade treats. The hosts ensured our wine glasses were always full. We loved the farm enough to visit it again on our return through France. Highly recommended."

"As described but even better, Our daughter described it as paradise for children. Worth more than an overnight stay, although it is very convenient for journeys from the south. We are really glad we stayed for two nights and another time we will make it longer. Beware of children smuggling kittens home."

"Some people might not like the simple, rustic style but they would be wrong. Our functional room had one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in, the building and our hosts were fascinating and we learned from them about this relatively unknown area of France. Dinner, shared with our hosts after the children had been helped with homework, was excellent. The motley assortment of animals added to the charm, and it was interesting to note that the girls sang as they were taken to school in the morning!"
