The
Experience

Spread your arms wide, breathe in the space, the clear, clean air and the snowy Pyrenees in the distance, and relax. Come here for absolute country-quiet in beautiful countryside with endless sports and fascinating history. The old farmhouse stands in 100 acres of fields and woods. Your hosts are the innately caring kind and happily share their wonderful space – and small gym. They spent years rescuing ‘distressed’ hotels and restaurants in England, have three very old retired horses, three young children, two magnificent Leonberger dogs bred for water rescue, and live nearby on the same property, ready to look after their guests. House and apartment are both attractively furnished with some handsome country antiques, oriental rugs and modern comforts. Living rooms and bedrooms are generous and light, kitchens fully equipped, including a fine big range in the farmhouse. Medieval riches surround you: Foix with its superb, imposing castle and the ruins of Montségur, both deeply part of Cathar history, the fortress town of Carcassonne, lovely, arcaded Mirepoix; there are lakes, caves, underground rivers to explore too.
