Bed & Breakfast

Sparkling B&B with garden and pool. Bedrooms are charming with pastoral views and you're near Carcassone for a day out

3 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 – 4

Sparkling B&B in a big rambling 18th century farmhouse with polished mahogany and family memorabilia. The blue-shuttered exterior is prettier than a picture while bedrooms are sunny and charming, more English than French. The garden has lovely woodland and pastoral views with a rare weeping beech in the field.  Harriet is a Cordon Bleu-trained cook and dinners are convivial and delicious. Splash in the big swimming pool, stroll woodland walks with stunning views of the Pyrénées. Mirepoix, once an important cathedral town, is just down the road for country antiques and pottery shops. Carcassone is a nice day trip.

A true haven after along drive. The friendliest of welcomes for four tired travellers in a lovely setting, and comfortable, spotless rooms which offered all we could want. The evening saw Harriet offer us a delicious and satisfying evening meal, accompanied by wine, and entertaining conversation around the table. After a good night's sleep, a plentiful choice at the breakfast table saw us prepared to continue our journey, and more than happy to recommend "La Ferme Boyer" to our fellow travellers. Robert and Harriet provided us an extremely warm and friendly welcome. We enjoyed a convivial evening over supper with other guests and Harriet proved to be an excellent chef. Our bedroom was immaculate. We highly recommend La Ferme de Boyer and its generous hosts.

Wow! Just Wow! What a perfect time to visit this idyllic place, blue skies, sun twinkling water on the delightful pool, birdsong and the scent of the roses and that was just the first impression. The hosts, Robert and Harriet were so welcoming , the beds so comfortable and the room spotless and so very well equipped. Next to dinner.... Superb food and wine and the conversation flowed a very memorable dinner, we repeated it twice !!! Robert 'does' breakfast, the most melting croissant and home made preserves. So a perfect stay. We will wholeheartedly recommend to our friends

Ferme de Boyer totally relaxing and delightful. Superb hosts and great hospitality, all v comfortable. Perfect base for exploring the picturesque Ariege region. We hope it will not be long before we can visit the area again and enjoy this perfect B and B.

Ferme le Boyer is a delightful place to stay. Robert and Harriet are generous hosts, very welcoming and made us feel totally at home. Tea and shortbread was offered as soon as we arrived and we would highly recommend Harriet's cooking. Our large bedroom and en suite bathroom were incredibly comfortable, spacious and tastefully furnished. Robert and Harriet have a vast knowledge of the area and more than happy to loan maps and books and make recommendations. We had a very enjoyable 5 days - thank you Robert, Harriet and Dibley the Labrador.

It was sheer delight to revisit Robert and Harriet in there lovely old converted farmhouse. We received such a warm welcome, sitting outside enjoying drinks and swapping stories. The rooms are large and a delight, with tasteful furniture. Harriet cooked dinner for the four of us and their three other guests; a superb meal that included a succulent delicious home made fruit pie and as much fine wine as we could manage. We all ate round their dining room table with Robert keeping us amused with his anecdotal repertoire. After an outstanding breakfast we were reluctant to leave the next morning

Quiet location, a few minutes from delightful Mirepoix. Fine swimming and accommodation, charming English hosts with extensive and helpful knowledge of the local area and beyond. No hesitation in recommending this B&B

Exceeded our expectations. Beautiful house and surroundings. We stayed with Robert and Harriet en route to Corsica. They were most generous, hospitable and interesting hosts. They even found space in their barn for our very damp Morgan! Harriet's cooking was delicious and good wine flowed freely, we were made to feel part of the family sitting round the dining room table. We plan to return next year for a longer stay to explore the area using our hosts vast knowledge of the region.

Lived up to expectations. A welcome cup of tea and home made cake on arrival from Harriet. Aperitifs on both nights of our stay and a lovely meal in the convivial company of the hosts. Bedroom was very comfortable and tastefully furnished.

We would definitely recommend this as a lovely place to stay in a very beautiful region and close to the charming medieval town of Mirepoix. We stayed three relaxing nights. Our room was spacious and this and comfortable. Harriet and Robert made us feel truly welcome. They are wonderful company. Harriet is an excellent cook and the meals we enjoyed with them were delicious.

We had a really enjoyable 4 night stay with Harriet and Robert. Our room was perfect and Harriet's cooking was superb. They were perfect hosts combining humour, intelligent conversation and local advice, which helped us to get best out of our visit to this beautiful and interesting part of France; Robert even organised a wine tasting in Mirepoix which was much appreciated.

Delighted there was space here for us at the end of our honeymoon driving through France & Spain. Beautiful restored farmhouse at the end of a fantastic tree lined driveway. Met by Harriet and Dibbs (the dog) and shown our enormous en-suite room. I don't think the Sawday write-up does justice to the welcoming from Harriet and Robert or to the rustic farmhouse charm & feel here. We visited Foix close by & had a delicious evening meal at the restaurant near Ferme de Boyer. Great Fresh French breakfast. We had such a relaxing time & will definitely return on our next adventure through France. A*

Fantastic; we stayed 5 glorious nights and each night we dined each night on the best food we have ever had in France. They welcomed us and our new born baby as well as our 30kg dog and we become part of the family over Christmas. We would have come just for the Dinners at night but the stay was so wonderful we want to be adopted as full time members of the family. If you are visiting anywhere near Toulouse or Carcassonne it's worth the drive to stay here and enjoy the Michelin quality dinners and the great hospitality and cosy comfortable accommodation.

Ferme Boyer is a beautiful relaxing place to stay.Robert and Harriet make everything so easy for the guests and Harriet's cooking is absolutely devine. They are wonderful hosts and we will be back to stay. It is located in a great part of France and our day trips within the region were memorable.

The welcome from Robert, despite my arriving somewhat late, could hardly have been warmer. The room was beautifully furnished in the English style, and extremely comfortable. Harriet's dinner was really superb - the best magret de canard I've ever had - and the conversation most witty and enjoyable. I hope to return soon.

Charming and delightful, well located just 3 km from Mirepoix, we would definitely stay here again. Very helpful hosts, excellent breakfast, most comfortable bed we experienced in our month of visiting France. We recommend trying to visit on a Monday, which is market day in Mirepoix, well worth experiencing. Dinner the first night of our stay was fabulous. We cannot say enough good things about this place. Highly recommended. Five stars.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Harriet Stow

  • The area's wide-ranging sporting opportunities include a parachute centre, an international go-kart track and bikes for hire (the Tour de France passes nearby every summer).
  • Nature is all about you: fig trees in the garden, hoopoes and golden oriels in the summer, goldfinches nesting in the wisteria, butterflies everywhere.
  • You are on the Cathar Trail - take a trip to Montségur, the stunning and atmospheric final stronghold of the Manichean Heresy - and many more mediaeval castles. Don't miss the unique church at Vals, built into the rock, climb to the roof and into a field!
  • Take a tour of the local vineyards and taste some different wines. There are some great restaurants too!
  • The famous traditional market at Mirepoix on Mondays is a lively, colourful and deeply tempting bustle of stall holders, shoppers and, in summer, trippers - but it has served the locals for generations and is genuinely not a tourist trap.
  • Separate self-catering accommodation for 2 or 4 available.
