A lovely old farmhouse on two levels, a terrace at the back for meals (lots of produce from sweet neighbours) and the dreamiest sunsets and views – Phillipe and Lynda, embarking on a new life in France, love the house, the community and the region. Guest bedrooms, each in a renovated farm building, have chestnut floors and reclaimed beams, the showers are super-large, and one bedroom has its own terrace – raise a glass to the view. You are in heart of the sparsely populated Aveyron – ‘la France profonde.’ Homemade yogurt and fig jam at breakfast, apple juice from the village and wonderful walks from the door.

Le Gouty is a fascinating old farmhouse in the depths of the beautiful Aveyron countryside. It has been restored to a very high standard by Philip and Lynda. They gave us a wonderful welcome, delicious french food and plenty of wine! The are generous with their hospitality and their time and gave us a great insight into local life in the delightful but little known area. It is good walking country: hilly with superb views and completely unspoilt. We would thoroughly recommend a visit.

On our first visit to Le Gouty two years ago, we promised our hosts that we would be back. Indeed, we have recently stayed at the Le Gouty for the third time! It just gets better. Lynda and Phil are the perfect hosts and nothing could be better than sitting and chatting around the table with them, eating a delicious meal. The Aveyron region is truly stunning and unspoilt, with its gorges, beautiful villages and forests. Largely undiscovered, it is an area which should not be missed. Thank you Lynda and Phil, we will be back .. again!

Of the more than 50 Chambre d`hotes I have visited this was by far the best restoration, everything was perfect. Home-made jam and aperitif, peace and quiet and excellent hosts. If you find a better Chambre d`hote than this you will be a lucky person.

Le Gouty - a mere heaven on earth! Located on the side of the French mountains in unspoilt tranquillity. English couple Lynda and Phillipe were the perfect hosts, making us feel like part of the family as soon as we stepped through the door. Lynda is a divine cook and provides the most delectable meals. The restoration of the farmhouse reflects the love and adoration Lynda and Phillipe have for France and the environment. The rooms are tranquil and airy, with eco-friendly playing a subtle influence. Phillipes research has provided an unspoilt HOME from HOME. We will definitely be going back.

We recently spent 2 weeks touring France and stayed in various places recommended by Alistair Sawday. They were all of exceptional quality but the one we felt like privileged guests was La Gouty. Located in beautiful countryside with stunning views, the accommodation reflected the love and care Lynda and Phil have put into restoring their Farmhouse. The meals were superb and we were treated by our hosts as though we were family. We were sorry we were not staying longer and hope to go back one day.

We enjoyed our time with Lynda and Phillipe so much, that we extended our stay. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived - almost like we were family We thoroughly 'chillaxed' in their beautiful farm house, wandering around their land, admiring the beautiful views and meeting their adopted pets - especially 'Mutt'. Food was lovely as were the accompanying drinks, but most special was swapping stories with each other. It was great to learn about and see the eco features they've installed. Will definitely return

What joy, friendly fun intelligent couple beautiful restored farm house, four days of relax sunshine, thunderstorms, tractors cutting hay, lovely friendly dog to greet you.. and then there is Lynda's cooking. A mini bit of heaven mid way between Albi and Milleau, in the Tarn valley. Old fashion Sawday place the best.

Worth going the extra mile to stay in an isolated renovated farmhouse. Two enthusiasts for the rural way of france who provide good food and an opportunity to appreciate how to make a success of living in a rural environment getting on with farmers and the land.

Yet another visit with Lynda and Phill, so we knew that a warm welcome and good meal awaited us. Whether a stop over on the way to the south west, or a stay for the peace of the countryside, you could not ask for a better experience. Many sites close, from Najac to Albi, and the vineyards of Gaillac, and then Rochefort. The room with the terrace is especially nice, the views go on and on, and the drive up gives impossibly beautiful vistas. Go for peace, quiet, or on the way to the southwest. Just go.

Set in the middle of chestnut forests, Le Gouty is a gem. The house has been lovingly restored by Phil and Lynda and our room, with a little balcony, overlooked the valley. The shower was fantastic and a welcome change from the more traditional French bathroom. Lynda and Phil are so enthusiastic about life in France and were perfect hosts. We were treated to wonderful local food, including the excellent soupe au fromage. We were on a motorcycle tour and this is a perfect stop, undercover parking and Lynda was kind enough to wash clothes for us. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Louise, Falmouth

Exceptionally friendly hosts (who conveniently shared my love of motorcycles!) lovely private rooms. Had two evening meals, where the hosts had gone out of their way to cook local specialities, which were lovely. Hope to visit again.

Mark, York

Having arrived for new year, we were welcomed by Mutt the lovely dog so loving and excited to see everyone, we then had wonderful food and wine, rooms are beautiful comfy and very homely. Views are spectacular and it's so peaceful. Mutt will even join you on your walks to show you the way. Phillipe and Lynda are wonderful hosts and we plan to visit again. Thank you both for a wonderful stay.

Emma, Tamworth

Arriving in near 40°C temperatures we received an equally warm welcome from firstly Mutt and then the friendly Lynda and Phil. Drinking proper English tea on the shaded terrace, chatting to our hosts and watching swallows swoop into the barn was the perfect beginning to our very enjoyable stay. The tranquil location is stunning and the house has been restored sympathetically. What more can we say: the room, was very comfortable, meals on the terrace delicious and watching the Evening Primrose bush unfurl was special, all in great company. Thank you Phil and Lynda ... we will be back!

Beautiful home Phil and Lynda are so welcoming, beautiful views and nothing best than a lovely glass of wine in front of the log burner. Beds very comfy and bathrooms beautifully equipped. I have visited in the winter and the summer and eating meals outside in the summer on the terrace you couldn't be anywhere better

What a beautiful place, so quiet and serene. I would highly recommend this place for touring the area. Phillipe and Lynda made us both welcome and we enjoyed our stay. The bedrooms are very roomy and have ensuite facilities...very private and quiet. Lynda along with Phillipe will cook a very generous and tasty meal..the only noise is the birds in the morning and the cows in the fields...what an experience!!

Unfortunately the 600 characters I have here is way too insufficient to describe what a wonderful place Le Gouty is and what marvellous hosts Lynda and Phil are!. The setting is splendid isolation however that does not mean basic and great care has been taken to attend to every detail. The bedrooms are comfortable , the bathrooms are spotless, the food either fresh from the garden or locally sourced and I even came away with some recipes! We were travelling through and so didn't have time to do the area but Lynda and Phil are a mine of information. All I can say in my last 2 characters is..go!

Wonderfully isolated spot with charming hosts and acrobatic goats. The farmhouse certainly reflects the care and love that Phillipe and Lynda have put into renovating the place. After a week of travelling around France we left Le Gouty feeling completely refreshed thanks to the tranquility of the area and the attentions of our hosts.

Phillipe and Lynda were the most open and engaging hosts who made us feel that we were long lost friends rather than mere house guests. Lynda has absorbed the true french cuisine and we had wonderful meals in their gorgeous farmhouse. which has been sympathetically furnished and decorated giving a light and airy feel. The location is tranquil and surrounded by unspoilt countryside full of the sort of natural history that is now so uncommon in the UK. Our one regret was having only booked for two nights rather than four or more.

Stayed at this outstanding home in may,all we could ask for, quiet, beautiful views and area, lovely welcoming hosts who go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. Dinners and breakfasts exceptional, using local ingrediants and welcoming your input. You can tell their dedication by the pride they have in their home, the hard work they put in to restore the original building and their continuing steps to improve upon what they have done. If you are looking to relax,to hike, to explore the Aveyron, this is the place to stay. Our only regret was in not staying longer. Ron and Yvonne USA
