The
Experience

Constructed from Gascony stone, your two-storey gîte is part of the stable block of a once-grand 1840s mansion. Now the big house is all shuttered up and Monsieur de Galard – farmer of sunflowers, corn, soya and lentils – has decamped next door, and keeps his garden-side shutters closed so guests have total privacy. The front door opens into a small cosy sitting room with two sofas and an easy chair, bright art on open-stone walls and a fireplace in the corner. It’s French, simple, nothing fancy. A farmhouse table dominates the dining room and the crockery is kept in a handsome armoire. There’s a kitchen that opens to a terrace, a toy box under the stairs, and bedrooms – off a landing with half-moon windows overlooking the courtyard below – have glowing stripped floors and views across the garden. The bathroom is shared and needs upgrading. For free-ranging families the place is heaven, its grounds flowing into fields, its woods made for dens, its pond for fishing. Best of all, a show-stopper of a pool, fenced, gated and lined with plastic loungers… bask away! Walks and wine-tastings abound.

Reviews

As you drive up the sweeping tree-lined driveway you relax knowing that there is a pristine rustic gite awaiting you a kilometre or so further up. The gite is set in a spectacular spot looking out on to beautiful grounds with mature trees and fields of various crops beyond. As you throw open the shutters in the morning, you get an impressive sound of birds singing along with lovely views from all three bedrooms. The dining room also looks out the same way and whether you are eating inside or outside, you really benefit from the tranquility that the Domaine de Lassalle offers you. Pool amazing!

We returned this summer to Domaine de Lassalle to find it just as wonderful as we remembered it... beautiful gite in tranquil countryside with lovely (gated) pool. Our family (2 adults, 4 kids) had a great holiday. Guy and Jacqueline are perfect hosts- welcoming and helpful but discreet. We hope to return...

Maura, Belfast

Great stay here, beautiful area, and a lovely position very quiet down a 1 km tree lined drive. V comfortable and all mod cons. Lovely grounds, huge pool (gated) and a great market in Gimont a 10 min drive away. We will definately be going back.
